|
|
So I have an iPhone that I used to be glued to until i came to Korea.
I cannot use my iPhone because I cannot get a contract.
Now i heard the only way to use Nespot and all those other services at Starbucks is to have a Korean mobile account?
I think? My question is if there is anyway to use Nespot without having a Korean sim or phone or plan?
Is there a way to get some sort of plan/deal for just the mobile internet?
Its quite frustrating, especially when I am trying to find a place and can't because i havent got the internet.
If anyone can give me infomation on this it would be greatly appreciated |

You can sign up for 'Olleh WiFi Single' plan - 8000 Won per month + 10% VAT for unlimited WiFi access. Visit your nearest KT Plaza. |

The link is the description page of the plan.
Even if you can't read Korean, simply have the page printed out and bring it with you when you visit KT Plaza.
It's named 'Single' because you're allowed a single designated device to access WiFi, in this case your iPhone. MAC address of your iPhone will be registered to KT's server, which means you can't 'share' or 're-distribute' your plan to your laptop.
If you scoll down, you'll see figures like 7,200 or 7,520. Those are monthly rates under fixed-term contracts for 3 years, 2 years, etc. Said 8K-ex.-tax/month deal on the right is for the contract without commitment.
Not every phone shop on the street is a KT Plaza - it's KT's local headquarters office that you need to go to. |

This is true or you can do what I did and get a Korean iPhone in a Korean citizen's name and just have the bill linked to your bank account. |

Thank you for the site.
How can i find one of these local headquaters?
I tried on that site, but, with limited Korean its kinda hard.
I cant seem to find it on Daum either
Is there a way to tell if a shop is the right one? |

Umm, what is your neighborhood exactly? If you're in Seoul, the name of your -Dong would be useful narrowing it down.
BTW, it is also true that you CAN sign up for an iPhone call/data plan with your hardware, as suggested above, if your iPhone is indeed unlocked and if you wish to use your phone in full capacity. Monthly rate wouldn't be quite generous though, when you consider 3G+WiFi unlimited data plans. |

Living around Apgujeong/Nonhyeon-dong but I dont care where as long as its in Gangnam really Travelling around is quite the easy task.
I tried getting a phone plan a while ago but because I'm only here for another 8 months I couldnt because they dont have pre-paid here, only 1-2 year contracts I think. I dont really need a phone for calls though (stupid, i know) so its okay.
I use internet on my phone alot more than I do for calls. More of a tablet for me. |

There's one right in Apgujeong, some 50 meters to the south from exit 3 of the metro station. Should be marked as a KT Plaza up front. |
