Doesn't matter about me because I'm not saying Mac's are worse than PC's..........I happen to realize that they just appeal in slightly different ways because people want slightly different things from computers.
But you guys are saying Macs are better than PC's.......so you have to explain why if you want to convince people. |
Are we reading the same thread? That's exactly what mac-users on this thread have been doing! |
hum, yes.....but you apparently haven't convinced us!! |

Macs crash too. What's your point?
When people say "Macs don't crash", it doesn't mean they never do, it's an exaggeration for "they hardly ever do." Same applies for my windows xp.
What's the point of mac users bragging about macs not crashing when in fact they do?
And yes as eamo said you are comparing an old arse windows xp which came out like 10 years ago to newer macs. Real fair. |

Nice strawman. What's your point, again?

Apparently, lots of people prefer the "old arse" windows xp to windows 7. Life's unfair, isn't it? |

There's a pretty big difference between calling someone a "Machead" and talking about an operating system.
I have no problem with someone saying that OSX crashes. It does, I've seen a kernel panic before. Macs arent perfect, but they are really stable and I've had far fewer crashes on a Mac than I have a PC, which is telling since I use a Mac WAY more often.
"Machead" is a personal attack on people, not an inanimate object such as an operating system, and that's the difference to me.
I havent called anyone who prefers a Windows computer an idiot, sheep or "Microsoft worshipper".
Sorry if I offended your operating system. |

When I use the term Machead I'm referring to the more fervent Apple/Mac fans....not the majority of normal people who use Macs....who I would call Mac users.
It's just a term as used by any group who are really into something....like Deadheads or Petrol Heads.........
I don't think it's pejorative.
But you might have noticed that I did sense that it riled up some people, so I switched to 'Mac users' or 'Mac fans' a few pages back.......in the name of peaceful debate! |

No strawman here. You said "My point is windows crashes, which might explain why mac-users criticize windows for crashing." My point is it's ironic for mac users to criticize windows crashing in 2011 when macs themselves crash. Do I need to say it 2 more times to make it clear?
Speaking of strawman.
What does that have to do with comparing a modern PC to a mac? Eamo already explained why it's pretty retarded. If you want to bash Windows, bash their latest version, not their version from 10 years ago.
Imagine if people in here were comparing windows 7 to whatever OS apple was using 10 years ago. Ridiculous I know.

Because no one here worships Microsoft. I won't stick with a product just because the logo on it. I don't buy products just because it's Microsoft. The only reason i'm using windows 7 is because it suits all my needs more than a mac or linux.
Very different than a mac user who will only buy an ipod, macbook and iphone4 because it's made by Apple and believe all the lies coming out of Steve Job's mouth. |

haha...point taken...there ARE some crazy Mac folks out there who worship Steve Jobs...I do think that this thread has been pretty level headed though. |

Hilarious. Do you even know what irony means? Not one person in this thread has claimed that macs don't crash, yet somehow you managed to conjure up this huge debate in your head.
You concede that people still use windows xp. You concede that windows xp crashes. And yet you're flabbergasted that people criticize windows for crashing.
Okay man, you win. |

I don't think that a mac is better than a pc. It just better suits my needs. I've tried windows 7 and it's pretty cool, but I'll stick to what I'm happy with.
To the OP, check both out for a few hours. Buy the one you like more.
Now can we move on? This is getting boring. |

It's also a common criticism mac fan boys still use even in 2011! Let's not play dumb. Mac users always say that windows always crashes, when in fact it doesn't.
And yes Mac's are overpriced |
Maybe that's because even in 2011, more people use Windows XP (which crashes) than Windows 7.
So... are you disagreeing with me? Macs are overpriced and... |
have inferior compatibility.

By using "PC's crash" as an argument, you are at the very least implying that macs don't, or do it less often. Since the discussion is about what to BUY now (unless you've changed the subject), and the only real windows option right now is windows 7; the XP argument is moot. Now, since stability was an assertion of the mac side in this thread, the burden of proof falls to them. "My windows 7 machine crashes less than my OSX" is hardly proof.
I don't mean to take the PC side, I just want a balanced argument.
To turn it on you, windows is harder to use and... |

First of all, I don't recall implying or even mentioning that macs crash less than windows pcs, although that wouldn't surprise me in the least. Second, if you believe that "the only real windows option right now is windows 7", clearly, you haven't lived or worked in Korea. Finally, I think "burden of proof" is a bit serious and dorky for a discussion forum where people customarily solicit opinions and share personal experiences.
But to answer your question, windows is harder to use and less secure. There's more... alot more, but it's late.
And like you, I don't mean to take the mac side. I just enjoy getting windows users worked up. |

The vulnerabilities of previous versions of Windows was what Mac users loved to crow about. The BSOD's and the viruses....so they don't want to give up that mantra. That's why this guy wants to talk about XP and not W7.
Now that W7 offers a much safer and stable experience, combined with the more powerful yet cheaper hardware being made for Windows, what are Mac fans going to condemn Windows for now?
Let's keep this debate up to date. |
