OP, yes. Those are what is available to those of us with legitimate college degrees. Those with no genuine degrees are forced to go through the private schools- hogwans.
Your benefits at a public school will include- being paid, getting medical and pension benefits, and more vacation time. It won't be a cakewalk as some public schools are bad places to work and others are not too bad. Do what you can and get a good location, close to Seoul or Busan. At least, that way, you can find some foreign friends and foreign food/bars/fun.

No matter what some recruiter may say, it's not easy teaching in Korea. Understand that going in. The fact that you are aware of this site and know where to ask for help is a plus for you.

My advice? Despite the warts, and all, GEPIK is a good choice as it is close to Seoul. Just try to be in a major city (Suwon, Anyang, Pyeongtaek, or whatever) that is on a Seoul subway line so you have the ability to easily travel to Seoul on weekends and during your vacation. This will help you with meeting others, socializing, site seeing, seeing the tourist sites in Seoul, and shopping.

Here is a map of the Seoul Subway Line and you can even show it to your recruiter and request that you be placed at a school close to the lines or stops. They will understand. Trust me, being close to a stop on the Seoul subway line will make a big difference in your time in Korea.
