There's a lot of information on this post but I tried to be thorough and explain everything.

What is the Sejong Belt?
Quote:
The Sejong Belt is a pan-city initiative to interconnect about 30 arts and cultural organizations scattered around Gwanghwamun Square, enabling citizens and tourists to take a package tour of performances, exhibitions, museums and royal palaces of Seoul at discounted prices.

This started in Seoul a few months ago but I used it this past weekend for the first time. Here's how it works. Basically it's run by the city of Seoul and you can buy tickets for shows and exhibits at a discount price. Also, you can buy packages that combine different activities and can save you even more. They sell tickets for shows like NANTA and various art exhibits at discount prices. The available shows and packages change every month. You can see what is available this month at: http://www.sejongbelt.com/00_sejongNew/index.asp The website is in Korean but they do speak English at the ticket office. The ticket office is next to the Haechi store at Gwanghwamun Square. They also have "rush" tickets available at 50% off for shows that day.
I have some guests coming from Busan and I bought some tickets for NANTA and paid 25% off-45,000 per ticket and also received vouchers for free meals at Artee.

Starting on Jan. 15, programs including the new restaurant and cultural center "Artee" will join the packages on offer. This restaurant, located on the ground floor of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, specializes in Korean, Chinese and Italian cuisines. Other new programs include "Satisfy the 5 Senses," which features tickets to see the non-verbal percussion performance "Nanta" at Chongdong Theater and a meal at Artee for 45,000 won, and "Mi & Mi," which combines a meal at Artee and tickets to "The Barber of Seville" at First Fire Cecil Theater for 80,000 won per person.

If you are interested in seeing shows and want to find discounts then you should see if there's something for you. You'd be surprised how many discounts are available.

Not a bad deal. I'll have to plan on doing a few of these.

Here's the report I promised in the OP. We used the tickets for NANTA and saw a great show, as usual for NANTA. I have seen it a few times but it was the first time for my guests and they loved it.

Then we went to Artee to eat dinner. Artee is a group of restaurants in B1 of the Sejong Center across the way from the USA Embassy at Gwanghwamun Square. There are many signs up around the area for Artee. Artee offers many food choices and, with the free meal vouchers I received with the NANTA tickets, there's a choice of Korean, Chinese, or Italian restaurants. We chose the Italian restaurant.

It was a HOME RUN! It was a multi-course meal with a choice of steak or salmon, and a choice of pasta, with soup, salad, and tiramisu for dessert. It was all included with the meal vouchers. I'd definitely do it again and I would recommend it to anyone.

I just wanted to add that at the Sejong Belt ticket office there are many ticket packages availble for different shows plus there are packages available for restaurants other than Artee. There are deals for show tickets with meals at: Outback, VIPS, and Bennigans. The available deals change every month so check the new list, but the woman at the ticket office told me that the list probably won't change very much from month-to-month.

Information about the Artee restaurant. It is a great restaurant with many dining choices.

Quote:
Seoul City has opened a dining space, which seats around 900, called the Gwanghwamun Artee, in the basement of the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. Gwanghwamun Artee will provide a dining and resting convenient option for citizens and travelers from abroad.

The name Artee, which was chosen in a public contest, means old and good friends. Gwanghwamun Artee houses a 228-seat Italian restaurant, a 100-seat traditional Korean restaurant, a 132-seat Chinese restaurant, and a 228-seat food court along with a 70-seat Bakery Caf, a 64-seat Myeongdong Kalguksu (noodle soup), a 36-seat Misoya, a 44-seat Menmusha, and an ice cream store. Seoul City plans to run Gwanghwamun Artee not as an ordinary dining space but as an urban cultural complex by developing diverse programs that link it with nearby cultural and arts facilities.

Here's an article in the Korea Herald about the Sejong Belt ticket center.

Quote:
Sejong Belt currently encompasses Gwanghwamun, Jeong-dong, Insa-dong, and Myeong-dong. A few performances are held in Sinchon and Daehangno. Shin says plans are to expand throughout Seoul.

Sejong Belt Integrated Ticketing and Information Center is open from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily and is located at Gwanghwamun Subway Station Line 5, Exit 9.
