Ive been in Korea for over a year. I came in with State fingerprints. I heard they pushed the date back a year for needing a Federal CBC, is this true? |

You can extend or transfer without the federal check until Jan1, 2012.
NEW visa applications require an FBI check.

Oh that's good. One more thing:
1. Does changing employers=needing new visa?
2. My NEXT contract will end after Jan 1st 2012 (maybe April/May 2012), do I need Federal CBC by Jan. 1st, or when my next contract expires in mid 2012 before wanting to transfer/renew? |

1) no, UNLESS your ARC expires before you complete the transfer.
2) you will need it for the 2nd change in your status if before Jan2012 or first change after Jan 2012.

Iforgot to ask you about diploma:
Do I need to do anything with it since I first came into Korea in 2009 under the old law? I cant remember all that was done with it, I believe it was was both apostilled and notarized. |

You will have to ask Kimmi what they will specifically want in YOUR case the next time you are in their office (or call them at 1350).
Again, the waiver still applies to those who were here prior to the changes.

For anyone reading who is not in the know, I might add that a transfer is done after a teacher has been at their present job for 9months or more. No visa run is needed.
If a teacher does not fall in this category they must gather an FBI CRC which is less than 6 months old and make a visa run.
Note that for Americans that the process of obtaining a CRC is taking 6-8 weeks, application to apostille from Korea, so teachers might want to plan ahead and give themselves some time.
Not sure how long other countries are taking. |
