one of my most memorable meals took place this evening. it came outta nowhere! i have a friend over and she failed to have lunch today. so, i thought i would make her one of my chicken surprises for dinner. while she watched American Idol on TV, i prepared dinner. i started with boiling some veggie fettucini then seasoning the noodles with garlic butter, a smattering of salt and some rock pepper. it was delicious. the sauce had to equal the exquisite taste of the noodles or the dish (both the food and the chick) would have went nowhere on me. so, i heated up some prego Italian sausage and garlic pasta sauce but just knew it wouldn't completely fly for this special dinner. thinking real fast, i added some roasted chicken that was leftover from my dinner the night before to give the sauce a unique, tangy, texture. at first i was a tad anxious watching her woof down the gastronomical work of art but after tasting it myself, i knew that i had missed my opportunity to be a culinary rockstar!

what a great meal!

Set lunch menu at The Kitchin, Edinburgh. Best �25 I've ever spent.

Hmm.. been to lots of joints in Edinburgh. (Balmoral, Witchery, McDonalds, Some tapas joint etc. etc....)

One of the coolest though was a Korean restaurant.

We rock up, and order some chicken... Five minutes later we see a dude and a dead chicken go by.. 45 minutes later dinner arrives.

Very cool and very fresh. One of the few times I've had chicken which tasted like chicken as opposed to nothing.

When I graduated from college, my parents took the family out for dinner at one of my city's best restaurant where they treated us like royalty. I don't remember the entree, but because I have a dessert fetish, I still remember that perfect lemon tart.

My husband once made an AMAZING meatloaf with habanero peppers and cheese and bacon all mixed in. He covered this with a habanero b�chamel sauce. It sounds strange but the citrus-flavor of the habaneros kept it from feeling too rich and it was just like a dream. I mean, I was probably high on heat so maybe I was just delirious, but it truly was amazing and delicious.

I remember a good deal of meals he's made and I hope I can get him to try this recipe again when we get back home.

Grilled eels and soju. The meat was so fresh that it still had blood on it. Simple, but utterly terrific food.

What do eels taste like? I'm a little bit afraid of them, but I'm planning an adventure at the fish market this weekend, so maybe I should consider them?
