How likely is it for dangerous levels of radiation to reach Seoul? My gut tells me not very likely since it would have to travel such a long distance, and I think only the 10km around Fukushima were evacuated, however I heard that the situation could get worse. I would appreciate any feedback. |

A number really close to zero.
The US carrier en route to Japan went right through a radioactive cloud. Sailors on deck received a month's worth of radiation. . . so essentially almost none.
This isn't Chernobyl (no matter how much the media wants it to be) and the same thing can not happen here given the type of reactor. Also reactor #3 just blew it's cover but is still contained. They were expecting this to happen so they're not really worried. Containment is still intact and they are still cooling the reactor. It's just a matter of time before the core cools off and everything is in the clear.

It's not exactly a typical Monday morning at the office either. Who knows what's going to happen. |

@somethingawful Thank you for your feedback. My Mom was planning on visiting me next week, but now she is not sure because of the possible radiation poisoning. |

She's apt to be exposed to more radiation just on the flight over...

Living in Denver for a year is probably going to get you more radiation exposure than being in Japan.
Quote: |
Because the earth's atmosphere acts as a shield, the exposure of an individual to cosmic rays is greater at higher elevations than at sea level. For example, the annual dose from cosmic radiation in Denver is 50 millirem while the annual dose at sea level is 26 millirem |

Considering the power is out, you may actually be getting less radiation because there won't be all those TVs and microwaves running. |
