I thought if you bought a ticket for an airport bus to Sinchon it would actually stop in Sinchon... silly, silly me.. of course it wouldn't!

Walked out Incheon airport this morning and bought a ticket for bus number 602 bound for Hyundai Dept. store Sinchon (amongst other places) As they are loading my suitcase on the bus they ask me where I'm going and I say Sinchon..

Well wer'e getting close to Sinchon and I'm wondering why he isn't slowing down. Ok, maybe he's going to stop on the other side of those lights. He keeps going... Next stop Ehwa Univ. Ok I think to myself that's not far from my place, I'll walk from there.. he still doesn't stop.

finally I go up to the driver and say 'I wanted to get off in Sinchon' in korean.. he said something I didn't understand and I sit down.. soon he stops the bus and points to the other side of the road where I can get back to Sinchon.. thanks mate!!

so I lug my suitcase up & down subway staircases and finally i get back home. Aside from having a rant, I want to know what I was supposed to do differently..

Is every passenger espected to go up to the driver and tell them in advance that they want to get out at the next stop?? I doubt it..

Of course if my korean is better I could have shouted out 'hey ajosshi, let me out!' as soon as he missed my stop.

Welcome back to Korea... at least I got an upper body workout lugging my suitcase around Rolling Eyes

[/end rant]

yeah you've got to push the button, but they're few and far between on those buses. You're better off just listening to the announcements and then when they say "The next stop is Sinchon" (english and korean) wake to the front and make sure he sees you.
Those fellas are on a t-i-g-h-t schedule

I looked for a button but couldn't see one...
I've never noticed buttons in 'long distance' buses before... ie from the airport

The 3 or 4 times I've done the ride there were announcements for each stop and then it was up to the passengers to run up to the driver and get him to stop.

I took the 603 and that one had buttons... they're pretty far apart though, you really have to look for them... Or as someone else already said, get to the front of the bus in time and tell the driver you want to get off.

If there's one thing in this country I'm an expert on, it's the 602 bus to and from the airport. There are buttons, but you could easily miss them, they're right above a select few seats- much easier to listen out, walk to the front and make sure he sees you.
Better luck next time Smile

Gets me laughing every time I read it. Surely you must know something better than this?
