Hello everyone,

My husband and I are going to be having our first child here in Korea. I have been looking for baby supplies and not having to much luck. Everything seems so much more expensive than it is back home in Canada. Anyways, does anyone know where to buy a pack and play?? I also am looking for ......(sorry if to much information)....a very good electric breast pump. Any help would be great!

Thanks,
BCgirl

Have you checked all the big markets in Busan?

Hi Bc girl.
I agree with you that baby stuff is way more expensive in Korea than back home.
My brother in Canada ended up going shopping for me and sending me three boxes of baby things.
One place where we did buy some baby things was kook-jae market near Nampodong. There is an ajumah with a cart of baby wear. Can't tell you which alley she is in. You will just have to wander around. But she had a bunch of cute sleepers for 10,000 won each (if you buy a bunch she is open to haggling).
The breast pump we bought came from the Wal-Mart in Seomyeon. Still have it too. If we were still in Busan I would just give it to you.
There are a bunch of baby stores near Kwang-ali but they are all overpriced (ugly and poorly made outfits with bad English wrapped in thick plastic).
Of the big box stores, Carrefour usually seems to have the best prices for baby stuff. Plus they also seem to throw the stuff up on sale more often.
The Carrefour in Haeundae has a couple of baby stores in its shopping mall and I found some good stuff in them at so-so prices.
Check out pusanweb.com's forums and there might still be a thread or two about getting baby gear in Busan.
Though you probably already have your doctor and hospital picked out, my wife and I used Areum Women's Hospital in Dognae. Great place and wonderful staff.
If I think of anything else, I will post it later.
p.s. congratulations.

You could try using the internet.

Do either you or your husband read Korean?

There are a ton of sites out there that sell stuff WAY cheaper than the stores list the prices for.

I disagree with Batman that baby stuff here is more expensive. It's all in WHERE and WHAT you buy.

PM me if you can read Korean. I'll ask my wife for some of the websites she used when buying stuff for our baby.

Thank you batman and Mr.Pink. I really appreciate the information. We are both just very beginners in learning Korean. I will hunt around some more. We are going back to Canada for a month to visit family next week and I was just debating on what we should really consider bringing back with us. Thanks again!!
