Is this a joke? I haven't heard about this, but I'm intrigued. I'd go, but I don't think I'd *pay* to go, unless if it was 5 star lodging (and no sharing rooms), plus food and great speakers or something. After all, who wants to pay to stay on some rock? |

I was invited to that as well. The "Dokdo Global Academy." I'll pass. I'd do it if it were free. But I'm not going to pay to hear a bunch of propaganda (and probably endure attempts to film me agreeing with it) about something I don't care about. |

You will likely stay at Ullengdo and go to Takeshima on a day trip.
For that price, I'd decline. |

Despite my interest both in traveling as well as Dokdo, I already declined for this year.
I looked into it last year, and it amounts to a lot of publicity photo-ops, an uncomfortable ride, and as lot of wasted time. |

Is this the same Dokdo Academy from Seoul? Their office is in front of Gyeongbuk Palace. They used to have a big picture/banner of one academy member shooting another member dressed as a Japanese officer on the front of the building. The rest of the members of the "academy" were behind them cheering and celebrating. |

Wow. Not only is it a crappy trip but they're having you foot the bill for it as well? I'd tell them where to go if they brought that up on me. |

Absolutely. Why on earth would they plan a teachers' conference on Dokdo? It's a propaganda shoot, and they want you to pay for the honour of participating. Stay far, far away from that one. |

my school is cheap. i had to my own key deposit for my apartment. teachers used to have to bring their own toilet paper up until last semester. |

there have been stories in the past that this is nothing but a propaganda trip, that you will be filmed and used for propaganda purposes. not my idea of a trip.
besides there are no facilities on the rocks, you arent even allowed to even step on land i think
i'd run and run fast from this one |

To add to the list of stuff I don't like about this trip:
1) Sea travel: I get incredibly sea-sick.
2) Sea food: I hate sea food that isn't fish, and I know that's what we'd be eating the whole time.
Yeah, I wouldn't even have gone if it was free.
And Dokdo is about the last place on Earth I'm interested in going to. |

Is Carl Kwan teaching it? Those loud sweaters and ties are enough to make me seasick. |
