The wallpaper in my smallish loft-style officetel is really dingy. I think the last guy had campfires in here, because it's peeling off in some places and seriously smoke-stained.

How much does it generally cost to have wallpaper replaced?

Is it a possible DIY job? I want it to look professional.

If anyone has experience with this, I would love some advice!

Thanks.

You know I am a multiskilled Renersauce mon of great an many talent.

As a Talent I advise you on wallpaper- do it yourself!

You can go shop up the wallpaer and schose your favorite - It is non-toxic glue they use so don't worry about that. You need a roller and some striaght edge platic type tools to put it on - however the problem I see is stripping the old paper.... from my gathered lifetime experence of this - yes I know in your eyes even now my pratical wisdom bloats- you need to get off as much of the old paper as possible - you should get a scraper to do this- I was wallpapering on good ole American plaster type walls - howver you may run into difficulty if your are sherdding through cheap ole China drywall.... If yo take your time and cut the paper it will look great you do not need a 'pro' to make it look nice - you can pull it off right after it is on while it is wet iyou do it slanted - but it is not like it takes a ton of skill to look decent - also u can buy some nice trim to go at the top and bottom that will hide any error.

Anyhow wallpapering was fun I thought and you can do it no problem in a weekend - I hope this helps you as I feel terrible I am unable to save Africa and sit idle while poor kids in Japan suffer.

Thank you for that very strange but useful advice.

Is it necessary to strip the old paper? I thought the Korean way was to just slap it on over the old stuff.

Don't do it yourself. It's not that expensive. We had our whole 30 pyung apt done with top quality fabric reinforced paper for 1.5 million won. It could of been done for half that with cheaper paper.

A small loft should be less than 500,000 won even with good paper.

I saw your other thread. 1.1 million a month for rent?!
That's insane...Raise a stink with your landlord if it's nasty...
