Hello
Im off to HK this week.
Will grab a Lonely planet or whatever at the airport but does anyone have any recommendations of things to do.. places to see etc..
I am open to everything

As you walk out of the glass doors you will see a kiosk to your right. It is full of current tourist information for what is going on in the city. Should be your first stop.
The night markets are ever popular.
The tram to Victoria peak.
The wax museum while you are up there.
Then head to the other side of the island.
Oh, and there is always Kowloon - temple street market, jade market, bird market, women's market (fashion)...

| I don't know if you're into hiking but there are a few nice hikes with some beautiful beaches on the Sai Kung Peninsula, northeast of downtown. My buddy lives on South Lantau Island and it's also worth checking out for hiking. I also saw people quite a few people kite boarding on one of the beaches there, although I don't know if it's possible to rent equipment. |

| Stanley Market is great as is the nightly light show at the harbor. When you arrive, the tourist info booth sells 3 day(I think) unlimited MTR passes for a fair price. It is worth considering getting one. Even if you don't want one, the info booth is a great place to start. |

220-250 VAC. Virtually the same as everywhere else in Asia , Europe and Africa.
If your stuff works in Korea it will be fine in HK.
Most outlets are semi-universal (2 flat or 2 round). Many do NOT accept 3-prong plugs. If you have 3-prong plugs you will need an adapter.

You might want to consider getting an "Octopus" card. It's like a T-Money card, but is good for getting stuff at Starbucks and other cooperating places as well. You have to put a $5USD deposit on it, but you get it back when you leave.
Also check out Victoria Park. Really cool stuff there, lots of Phillipinos and Malaysians hanging out on Sunday.
Be sure to try some durian, too. |

Hi
I am going to HK for 4 days in June with my wife. I plan to go from June 2-5 (leaving on 6th 00:40am).
I plan to stay in Macao for 1 day on the 2nd. And the remaining 3 three days in HK. Does this plan make sense ??
Can anyone recommend hotels in HK and Macao with good locations for touristy things ? |

I recommend Lantau island. Didnt think much of HK proper. Some good food though. Snake soup was pretty fishy |

| I've been to HK seven times but just once after 1999. It's good for food and shopping but one weekend should suffice. And prices have gone up considerably in that city so it's no longer the bargain that it once was. |

I have been to HK 3 times within 7 months from Korea.
I noticed that nobody mentioned any clubs for the night life.
Check out: Club Beijing
It is a super club, and pretty much everyone speaks english in there! |

I will recommend the BUTTERFLY HOTEL at causeway bay.
HK is expensive in terms of accommodations, but this HOTEL offered tremendous value for the $77 US I paid.
Its also located on the HK side and easily accessible by MTR (train)
If your looking for a dirt cheap place to stay. Check out the MONGKOK area. It is at a central location on the Kowloon side |

| book before you go on sites like elong.com. i got the ramada there for 450 hk a night, but if you just arrive and ask they quote a lot higher. |
