I'm looking for a new job and my current school is giving me a good reference but my last school I'm not thinking they are even though they promised they would.
My co-teacher from the older school said he give me a good reference but the administration isn't I'm assuming.
The reason is that last year during the semester I broke my leg and I couldn't teach my classes as all the classrooms were on teh 2nd or 3rd floor and the building didn't have an elevator and I was imposed unpaid sick leave.
I feel the administration isn't commenting on my great teacher abilities, but te fact I missed a lot of teaching days for sick leave.
I just don't want that uncertainty hanging over me as I look for a new job. I was thinking of just posting a fake hagwon and have my korean co-teacher say the hagwon went out of business.
Or should I just void my reference of the school and just say that I only worked at 1 school, though my current school I'm leaving early due to financial problems.
I need some advice. |

Generally I would only provide contact info for referee's I have a good relationship. I would also make sure they understood to only sat nice things about me. It is unnecessary to give the prospective schools your old admin phone numbers or emails. Co-teacher, who like you, are much more reliable.
I wouldn't lie, as all your work places will be listed at immigration anyway. Also a new employer's mindset is generally to only want to hear good news. Once they talk to your old co-teacher they'd probably not dig much deeper than that. |

Okay, I didn't like the lying option anyway, but that accident really fucked me over last time with finding a new job. I just don't want a new prospective school do go looking up the administrative phone number and calling my asshole ex-vice principal.
I'll talk to the recruiter and see what they say about it. |

Get a Korean friend to call your old school admin pretending to be a potential employer. That way, you can see what they will say about you before using them. |
