Do you have to grade a lot of papers after teaching hours?

You don't have to say "in South Korea" every time. You could say "in Korea", but don't bother saying that either.

What kind of school? Public, private, university? I work at a Hagwon and I am 100% in charge of my curriculum, so if I didn't want to, I wouldn't have to grade anything (just don't assign it).

Depends on what your testing. Not every school requires it, hagwons usually. For format, All government and school tests are multiple choice, if there's a writing section. It's a very short sentence.

Grading almost always takes a long time. How long depends on what your testing.

I'm public elementary. Every few weeks they have a listening test which I grade. Takes me no more than an hour to grade.

Hagwans vary depending on who you are teaching (kindy, elementary, middle/high school/adults). typically, the younger the students the less time you spend marking anything.

Public elementary schools = o time for marking.
Middle schools = minimal time for marking.
High schools = unknown.

It also depends on what you are teaching. If you are just the conversation teacher or the regular English teacher.

I teach elementary school. I probably spend about 30-40 min grading quizzes daily, but not every week. It's usually every other week. It's nothing much, though.

i agree in public elementary schools the time is near zero.....

i taught in a private elementary school(not a hogwan) and the grading time was very significant b/c the students grades came not from tests but a portfolio of work each semester.......i was responsible to file(also to keep and safeguard) work into 150 portfolios and grade them........it was total madness.........

Maybe I'm too trusting, but for most things, we usually take it up in class together and they mark each other. It means less structure/planning (rigid structure isn't always a good thing), and it doesn't count for anything anyway... so if they cheat they're just cheating themselves out of learning... and the good students who will actually use English in the future usually don't cheat anyway. Or I just give girl tests to boys and boy tests to girls... it works perfectly.

Sometimes if it's a big deal test, then I mark it myself, but I don't correct... I look for the most common errors and then do 'mini-lessons' (or full lessons) based around those.

I take full advantage of my freedom.

Yeah it depends on what you're teaching.
