Do you guys go out with other teachers for dinner?
Do you go on dates?
Where do you go to have fun?
Can you save enough money to travel to China, Thailand, etc.? |

After work you are fed your daily ration along with the other foreign teachers, escorted back to your cell, err... room and kept chained to your computer until the next morning when you are returned to your hagwan to being teaching again.
You are not allowed to date.
You are not allowed to have fun.
You can save money but you are not allowed to travel outside Korea because you may not return if you have having too much fun or going on dates when you travel.

Very funny Tom! No seriously, is it like the United States? Are there American movies? Can you go to the theatres? What about American restaurants? Theme Parks?
I know there are probably clubs, but how do people blow off steam after work.

I am a member of a martial arts club. I do that after work.
I study some Korean.
I go swimming.
I watch movies.
I argue with people online.
The one thing I don't do is hang out with other waegookin getting drunk. I leave that as a weekend thing only. |

It is not very similar to the United States. There are no American movies shown, because most Koreans have a distaste for Hollywood cinema, preferring small-budget indie films. Korea's famous movie industry has called several times for American movies to be banned from Korean cinemas to bolster inter-Korean film making. The few American movies that make it over are usually kids films, and they are prohibited by law from having subtitles, only Korean dubbing.
Not that it matters, because to answer your second question, no, foreigners are not allowed to buy tickets at movie theaters or other events unless they have a registered Korean national with them as an advocate. Foreigners are also not allowed into casinos or gyms.
The only real American restaurant that is in Korea right now is Taco Bell. After winning the franchise wars, Mexican food has swept Korea by storm. Korea doesn't really have hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, or ice cream, for the most part, as lactose intolerance is common.
Theme parks as well are not frequented by foreigners because they are not allowed on the rides due to their lack of citizenship. They are allowed inside with the advocacy of a Korean national, like movie theaters and spas.

| Depends on where you live. In Seoul, you will live a very western life if you want. In the countryside, you may have to travel to a nearby regional city. In the country town on weekdays, you will have to find your own hobbies and ways to make the time go by. |

Yes it is a forum--populated by many people, myself included, who roll their eyes at questions that are easily answered with less than 30 minutes using Google. The questions you ask, both here and in the other threads you have recently posted, have been answered many times over in other threads. Also, on the rest of the internet. Performing your own due diligence first will get you less snarky replies and more genuine ones. |

I think "what's your daily routine?" may be a better interpretation of this question.
Me, I work from about 9-7, go home, try to go to the gym, eat dinner and fall asleep. Like creeper I usually save the drinking for the weekends.
How many of you drink regularly during the week? |

They have to, so that you can teach the Skype classes and check online essay submissions during your rest period.... |
