I�ve been looking into the Beats by Dr. Dre Headphones after stumbling upon them at BestBuy. I thought it�s possible to use these wireless, cause they work on batteries and have a separate wire. After googling this I found some conflicting results that you have to use a separate device or not� So.. does anyone know whether I can use the headphones wirelessly?

I don't think you can. The batteries in the headphones are used for the noise canceling feature.

If you want to buy a good pair of headphones I would suggest Phiaton. Great sound quality, but a bit pricey. I have the PS300NC ones myself. They are absolutely amazing, I wouldn't take a plane trip without them. I have actually seen them for sale at the new Toy's R' Us in Cheongnyangni.

Check out The Headphone Shop on the 5th floor of Yongsan. You can spend hours testing out a plethora of different headphones in the same price range to find what you like best. I wish they offered some type of package where you could get some nice over-ears and earbuds for a discounted price. Seems like a good sales model for audiophiles.

If you want headphones for portability and which can also isolate external noise then IEM's are the only way to go.

Those Westone IEM's linked above would be awesome no doubt, but if you can't afford $450 then there are still great IEM's at around $100.........but I wouldn't spend less than that.

Jesus that is way too much for headphones. I got some moto rockr's at yongsan for 65,000 and I thought that was absurd. You just need headphones that sounds good and feel comfortable (the moto rockr were the only pair I've ever tried that feel comfortable after 1+ hrs). Headphones get lost/damaged too much to justify $450 (at least for me). Get yourself a good headset or speaker set for home, and get a nice comfortable midrange set for travel.

Listen to a high quality set of Westone, Phaiton, or Sennheiser headphones. Your 65 dollar ones will no longer sound good. 350+ USD may seem like a lot, but for some it is worth the extra cost for the amazing sound quality. Especially if you spend 3 hours commuting every day on the subway. My noise cancelling headphones have allowed me to keep my sanity.

I've tried the Beats and they are pretty good, but you really are paying a lot for the fact that they have Dr. Dre on them.

If you're looking for full sized noise cancelling cans, I recommend Ultrasone 580's, ATH-M50's, or Shure 750DJs. All are at or under $150 (on Gmarket they're under 200k), and they all sound as good if not better than Beats.

The previously mentioned Phaitons are great too, and they look phenomenal. But, they are made in Korea so there is a pretty sizable markup if bought domestically.

If you only care about wireless ability, there are, as of now, no audiophile grade Bluetooth sets (to my knowledge). I think I read about one or two at this years CES, so maybe that'll change soon.

As of now I got some Shure 535's paired with a Cowon X7 and the quality is jaw-droppingly good.
