Just a simple question. How many different employers have you had within the last 36 teaching months?

Oh- and if you've only worked:

one or less years- please give a post-note to indicate that
two or less years- please give a post-note to indicate that

e.g. one year/one employer

That way we know that it's not 1 employer in 3 years- if it's not

Been here almost three years, only one employer. I got a good deal and stuck with it.

3rd - 3 months in now

Then again I also do consulting on the side, does that count as an employer in this poll HP?

I've been in Korea since November 2001, and I've completed 2 one-year contracts, each with a different employer. I have just started a 3rd one-year contract with a third employer.

The first did not deserve to keep me for a year. Only by having an older Korean friend of mine (a hogwon recruiter of all things!) negotiate with my boss did I manage to make that one bearable.

Year number two I managed to escape to another dodgy kiddie hogwon that at the very least wasn't blatantly abusive. Despite an emotional and incompetent boss a nice apartment and short hours were enough to make me consider signing on for a second year. Unfortunately the offer for my second contract was a 5% salary raise with a 20% increase in teaching hours Confused

Now for year number three I've gone for a bit lower pay and a split shift at a larger, stable adult hogwon. I'm on my third month. So far it's been a breath of fresh air. For the first time in my working life in Korea I'm being treated with dignity by my boss and my students. They give everything they promise, and every incentive to work harder than I did in the past. It may be too early to say, but I'm hoping I can stay at this job for a while, and/or possibly use it as a springboard for a uni position.

I have competled one year with one psyhco boss. Now am working in a public school and I really love it.

First job lasted 12 months with a psychotic director who liked to threaten to kill teachers.
2nd job lasted three months with a director who thought all foreigners were stupid drunken clowns fit only for the amusement of children.
3rd job lasted three months with a neurotic, alcoholic, gambling-addicted twit who denied even being my boss.
4th job lasted three months because my tourist visa expired.
5th job lasted six months because my director was a lying, cheating, two-faced, bas tard (see all of my rants about KChell about this one).
6th job lasted 12 months but my director was a psychotic meglomaniac who liked to break windows, play teachers off of one another, was involved in an assortment of illegal activities, thought loan sharking was a good way to supplement his income, enjoyed threatening to kill teachers...

Funny. Back home my previous jobs lasted for three years, four years, 2 years, four years and three years.
