Last year I taught in Korea for three months. I was supposed to be there for 12.
However my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly so I returned home.
At the time my school were okay about me leaving (I only gave them a few days notice). They have also allowed me to use them as a reference. I am now looking at returning to Korea. I have been offered a job and I am now in the process of trying for a Visa.
When I left Korea I handed in my alien card to a customs official and he made a mark on my E2 Visa saying he was cancelling it.
I have advised all of the recruiters and potential schools about what happened. They have all advised me there will be no problems getting another Visa.
I have also advised that I can supply a legal copy of my father's death certificate.
Another minor matter is that I took out a cell phone contract for 12 months. As I had to leave Korea and was not exactly in a good state of mind I took the phone with me. I still have it and if I go back to Korea I intend to take it with me. As I understand there will be unpaid money owing on this account. I am happy to pay for the bill but I do not want to get stung by any massive penalties or have a debt collector chase me down in Korea (probably being paraniod here).
Will there be any problems with me returning to Korea? |

I think that as long as you pay the amount owing, you'll be ok.
As far as the visa, it shouldn't be a problem. People do that all the time. If the consulate issues you the visa, then you know you're ok. |
