I have seriously low level high school student mixed with a few students who are fairly fluent in English, so I'm trying to do more activities where kids make something and describe it. However, there's no budget for supplies and sometimes it's hard to get so much as a glue stick. Are there any good place to get things like secondhand shopping bags, tissue paper, gift wrap...

You could try asking your staff to bring in extra bags and magazines for projects. I used CM to ask for collage material and have way more than I could ever use. I had a lot of luck making magnetic poetry with the magnet strips on the backs of the carry out menus (the menus themselves were pretty good collage materials)

The most fun investment I made was in some individual-sized white boards from Daiso. But the best resource has definitely been the other teachers.

I like the magnet idea and I already have white boards in my classroom. The next time I see menus on doors in my building, they're going to "disappear."

I put little signs above the trash areas in the teachers rooms and a few of my teachers will ask students to bring things. I guess it' a matter of keeping my eyes open...I'll definitely be scouting the paper recycling bins for my apartment building.

You live over in Imae right? Have you checked out The Beautiful Store? It's a regular 2nd hand and end-of-line clothing store but they have lots of random stuff too which might come in useful for classroom activities (decorative stuff, pens, books etc).

It's located in the SK building (or maybe it's KT? Can't remember) across the street from Seongnam Art Centre. The building is located right at the intersection so it's not hard to find. The Beautiful Store is Closed on Sundays but keep regular Monday to Saturday shop hours.
