Not exactly a bold prediction considering Sherdog, Las Vegas, and most MMA websites predicted Jones to win.
You are correct though. That was a dominant win. It's kind of scary when a guy wins the belt that easily. Reminds me of when Anderson Silva beat Franklin. I think we are in for a very long dominant run.
I want to see an Anderson Silva vs. Jones superfight! |

It looked to me like Bones could have stopped it easily in the first round.
Shogun was wobbly, back against the cage, and then Bones let up and walked him back to the center of the octagon several times.
I don't like it when fighters try to stretch out a fight to put on a show when they're in a controlling position.
But, yeah, that was an impressive victory. I don't see Rashad giving him much of a test. I'd rather see Quinton Jackson or Machida against Bones. |

Agreed. When he had him rocked against the fence that fight could have easily been ended. Shogun was barely standing. |

i don't know about that. if you're in a championship fight, do you want to take any risks and stay in the pocket? even his coaches said after the fight that they were a little worried that jones was willing to stay in the pocket too long. |

Maybe, but Rua had taken a pounding and was very unsteady on his feet. When he staggered out, did you see the punches he was throwing? They had nothing at all behind them, were aimed at nothing, and so didn't look too dangerous. Bones took it easy to drag it out to three rounds. That's not good. It doesn't fool anyone (i.e. provide more entertainment). And it risks injuring opponents. Finish it straight away. |
