After work you are fed your daily ration along with the other foreign teachers, escorted back to your cell, err... room and kept chained to your computer until the next morning when you are returned to your hagwan to being teaching again.
You are not allowed to date.
You are not allowed to have fun.
You can save money but you are not allowed to travel outside Korea because you may not return if you have having too much fun or going on dates when you travel.
. |
They let you have a computer!?! |
Sure, how else would I be able to spend so much time here!

Actually OP: they keep you in camps after you arrive. You transit to and from work through a private tunnel. You do not see the light of day.
However, at the better schools, they have built a cardboard America replica so you will feel at home.
So pick your job wisely.
OR...and this will be shocking...GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH....heaps of blogs out there detailing life in Korea. |

| You're not allowed to do anything remotely recreational. Once, as a Lunar New Year gift (Western holidays are forbidden), my handler took me out to eat rice, kimchi and seaweed soup at a restaurant. Fond memories... |

| You're not allowed to have fun or date Korean women. You must go straight home and stay there. You can come out to play Chinese checkers on Sunday afternoons with the ajossis in the park. |

+1 sometimes you're allowed an ice cream cone too on special holidays, but you only get to have 32 licks and then they take it back. |

| When I get home I usually adjust the antenna. Then I audition my hand puppet. After a bit of that, I brush up on my typing skills, check for testicular cancer, and maybe, if it's not too late, I'll clean my rifle. Of course, I'll do some homework too. |

Wow, so many trolls.
-Yes. Most of you will have the same schedules, and will be fluent in English.
-Yes. Blind dates (soh get ting) are common.
-Places that you enjoy going to: movies, clubs, bars, restaurants, shows, etc. Similar here as it is in the states, or other westernized places.
-Yes. Budget, spend/save frugally - and you'll make it work. |

Generalu,
The OP, siwa, is a troll or a sock him/herself, and hence, gets trollish mock-replies. This is just the arc of an ongoing narrative, not a bunch of folks sniping an innocent.... |

Well, gadfly, this is no mock reply. A very esteemed poster has it as one of his most prized memories. |
