To OP: There is nothing wrong with wanting your wife to live with you and your mother. In some cultures it is expected for the new wife to live with the husband's family. I'm so sorry it does not fit in with your narrow view of how things should be.

Elderly people should just be thrown away and ignored, right? Why would you possibly want to talk to, let alone live with an elderly parent? That's SO pathetic. Like, oh my God... ew, living with your mother! Icky!! It's not like the new wife could possibly lift some of the burden from the mother and HELP her do things around the house or keep her company.

And to the person who hijacked the thread- Everybody knows that natural disasters happen to countries and kill thousands of innocent people because they totally deserved it. They probably stole a grape from the grocery store once.

I can't understand at all how it's "pathetic", and think people who think it is are in fact the pathetic ones.

You have 2 people who have a need and may just fit each other's bill. And they might just be happy together; god forbid!

I also don't see a problem marrying a woman that reminds you of your mother of sister, or who can get along with, hang out, or help them, etc.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

Very Happy

Maybe as society becomes more pathetic, we are in less of a position to view things as absurd or laughable.

If you are the girl in your avatar and you teach in Korea I'll eat a gun. False advertising.

Maybe the guy's mother on the farm had a stroke, or is sick, and needs help running the place. Maybe he can't afford an assisted living center. Can you afford to pay the monthly fee for one or both of your parents? The halfway decent assisted living centers cost around 4,000 dollars a month to rent a unit. A lot of people do this all over the world. Only Canadians and Americans think there's something wrong with it. Just one or two generations ago, we were doing the same thing. This whole idea of proudly announcing to the world that "I don't live in my parents basement" is ridiculous. First of all, everyone should contribute their share. It's not leeching or taking advantage of anyone and the married couple can save a lot more money in a shorter period of time. If the parents' mortgage isn't paid off, they can pay towards it. I believe that the people who make fun of those who want to live with their parents for a variety of reasons, are the same people that would put their parents in a state run (assisted living) facility where it's a horrible existence, rather than pay what it takes to have them taken care of. Because they're just too selfish to bring those parents to live with them.

The first good looking woman in ESL history shall soon arrive and begin teaching in Korea. This is truly a Sign o' the Times. Repent. The western economy is this bad. Gorgeous western women are fleeing their native countries. Hordes of Korean men will be waiting at the airport hoping to get a glimpse.

Somewhere, somehow, an adjossi's face twitches involuntarily.

I disagree.

I say that if men are allowed to treat women like objects, then they should also be allowed to treat objects like women.

The latter is actually morally superior.
