Used by sportscasters quite often.

I think hence, whence, & thence are (were) a nifty set of adverbs.

I think utilitarian means more than just 'useful'. A utilitarian object is designed to be useful with no regard for its beauty.
I'd like to use the pronoun 'one', but it sounds so posh and queenly that no one uses it any longer. I think that saying 'you' instead sounds too accusatory.

I had a friend defenestrate himself from the second floor. Drunk = lost sense of space and distance. Oddly enough, he is one of the smartest people I know.

Full stop and dungarees are words I gave up in childhood. In first grade, I remember being in the playground and using both of these in front of the other kids. It took me a solid minute in both cases to figure out the American equivalent, period and jeans. I definitely stopped trusting my own English for a while, and I used to think many of the words my parents used were nonsense words (sometimes I still do).

Rigamarole is a word that I always liked the sound of, but I didn't know it was real until I read it in Lolita. I also thought botheration was fake too.

Poo and poop are words that I am also careful with. For me, poo is the solid waste product, and poop is the gas. Even in college, my friends made fun of the difference.

I still dream of the day I can use words and spell the way I want to without a teacher/professor telling me I'm wrong and taking points off or a friend looking at me like what the what. Maybe when I become less self-conscious?

Working in SK, it's all about the vodeodo.

Where I come from, vodeeodo is about doing the horizontal bop, i.e. getting some.

Anyhoo... the word I've found myself using lately is 'unbeknownst'. Although I rarely hear it spoken.

Well I often threaten to defenestrate my students...

'fair' meaning beautiful

'gay' meaning happy

'pray' meaning please, and 'please' as a verb (I please to)

'Heaven smile upon thee!' as an everyday greeting

Constructions like "I like it not," or "Pray, fair lady, let us please to dwell on more gayer things."

Also, tricorner hats, and the latitude to spell words however I like.

Not until I've discombobulated them with my..... deliciousness.

(I admit, I didn't know the latter word until I moved to Korea)
