Which restaurant do you feel has the best food and value for the money in Itaewon?

Most of the restaurants in Itaewon seem a bit overpriced; some are worth it, some are not. Which are the good ones in your opinion?

I haven't been to many.. but the only really good one out of the few in terms of great food + decent value was Petra restaurant up on the hill.

Taco Bell Laughing

Kebab stands and the moroccan sandwich guy are true value-for-money

Petra seems reasonably priced

and the various Tuesday deals found in Itaewon:

5000 won for 10 pork ribs at Sam Ryan's (these are seriously good)

lot's of places have 10 wings for 3000 won

Hollywood Grill - 15,000 won for steak, fries, garlic bread, and a beer. It's a really good steak, but comes out a little bloodier than you ask for.

Wolfhound - 2-for-1 fish and chips

I think Zelen (Bulgarian restaurant, next to 3 Alley/Sam Ryans) tops my list for value/price. Amazing food, generous portions, great atmosphere, cool staff.

Good question, OP. There's nothing wrong with looking to save your money. Don't ever let anyone laugh at you for being budget-minded when it comes to eating out. First, don't sneer at Taco Bell or McDonalds for value as in stretching your money, especially that weekend before payday. I'd also add the many kebab stands, especially Sultan Kebab (around the next corner after Taco Bell). Other than that, go for one of the middle-eastern buffets. If you've read my many posts on the subject, you know that I don't believe in wasting money on "frills", but I can add two more places that will fill you with good food and won't leave you broke. Pizza Peel is pretty good and the prices aren't too bad. It's down an alley near McDonalds. I also enjoy Bistro Corner for good burgers. It's up at the top of the hill across from McDonalds, but it's well worth that 5 minute hike. Tony's Aussie Bar is there, too, and I've heard good things about it, but I'm no authority on Australian food.
Just remember one more thing about restaurants in Itaewon, or anywhere in Korea. They do change owners, from time-to-time, and what is good now can turn bad in a hurry if the new owner just wants to make a "fast buck." If that happens to you, feel free to post about it and let others know. When we share solid info about restaurants we help each other save time and money.

I second the Moroccan sandwich and the Hollywood Grill steak. It's one of the better rib eye steaks I've had in Korea. They don't know how to properly cook fries though.

Simon the Moroccan sandwich truck is the bomb! Just make shure he gets nice sharp cheddar cheese. (Non of that slice crap!)

The Iranian restaurant is good and healthy.

Rest 2 Go Terriaki has the best salad I've had in a long time!

Miyayama Japanese pork Ramen is awesome!!
Soup is good at Chilli King and the soup place across from McD's going up the hill.

Last time my friends and I went, there was a fairly sizable slug looking thing in one of our dishes.

They didn't say much about it, said sorry, and that was it. No offer to comp anything or even give us a discount.

+1

If you go for brunch on the weekends the deals are even better. 18,000 for three courses. The main course always has at least 3 servings of meat.

That's unfortunate...out of the dozens of reviews/comments I've read here and heard in person, this is pretty much the first negative one. That kind of stuff happens in restaurants, but not offering a comp or a discount sucks hard. Sad

I had the blackened chicken burger at Geckos, and I was quite surprised how good it was. Two proper breast fillets, nicely seasoned and blackened. Served with fries. It was around 10,000.
