Is it better to fly there yourself so that you are not required to stay 6 months or pay the the cost of flight if the contract is terminated?

I'm guessing that the flight is very expensive since they fly you there so quickly. So, is it better to pay your own way and not incur these heavy costs if the school/living arrangements are terrible and you want to break contract?

Is there any benefit to them providing airfare cost, if you might be able to find a reasonable ticket there yourself? Just seems to me that it isn't so much of a benefit to be provided airfare if it means you are required to fulfill a certain amount of time in the worst case conditions. Would I be more in control of my situation this way?

erghhh or if it's really rubbish and they are treating you badly and not meeting contractual agreements then you can just leave therefore incurring no personal cost? Possibly?

Exactly.

What reasons might you possibly have that would prompt you to leave early? Not being paid on time? Not being paid in full? Being yelled at or otherwise insulted by the boss? Being fired without justification? And the list goes on. In any of these cases, it should say something about the people you're working for. And in case it doesn't, let me say it for you - They're treating you like crap and aren't likely to treat you any better when you announce that you're quitting. That's why people do midnight runs. If you paid for your own plane ticket, then you leaving early is a bonus for your boss. It costs him nothing, but saves him money. Some bosses will intentionally make life miserable for you just to get you to leave. If they've paid for your plane ticket in advance, then you can just pick up and leave after you get paid and they can flip part of the bill for their decision to treat you that way. If YOU paid... then you're essentially paying for the privilege of being jerked around.

There is ZERO reason for you to pay for your own flight. Do not do this!
