"More Greece-style angry protests in entitlement-addicted UK. I'm guessing they would also be very upset if they were forced to work or create wealth for a living. These people want 'anarchy', with a very, very big government to pay for absolutely everything. This is Winconsin multiplied by 10,000. <--> I'm not going to make any hasty generalization that these protestors are new-green, culture of entitlement, nanny state hippes who don't feel like studying or working."
You give me whiplash when you contradict yourself like that. |

I was mostly being facetious. As for your whiplash, I hope you have a good chiropractor paid for by your government!
This is the endgame of a socialist entitlement burdened state.
In the former Soviet Unino it meant the wall falling and the disintegration of the state apparatus leaving no one to blame and vent against. In the EU it is and will be different - much more violence and protests as the undisintegreted state tries to reduce entitlements and maintain financial solvency. The rest of the west needs to act pre-emptively to make our entitlement programs sustainable for the long-term.
The biggest threat to the UK welfare start that you won't read about, is the massive white flight first from the cities, then from the country itself. Anyone with an ounce of working ethic and a brain has either thought about, is planning on, or has already left the country (If they can afford to). |

Boomers:
You have bled Western society dry, not the millennials. If you're looking for a generation to blame, look at yourselves and your parents. Banging your rattles and crying for desert while throwing a fit when it's time to pay the taxes necessary to keep it going, and doing so for fifty years.
Compare welfare now to the 1960s, or even the 1990s, then tell me who has the entitlement complex. |

Boomers? It's slightly more nuanced than that. Take a look at Stephen King's (yes, that Stephen King) speech in Florida:

I have been out of the UK for long enough to not be concerned about the cuts, I don't really have an opinion about them. If 250,000 people gather in London, then they must be having a deep effect.
I do however, have an opinion on the utter f***ing scum that see fit to hijack the demonstration of principally decent people. They have smashed up beloved London buildings and spray painted all over the statues in Trafalgar Square. F***ing filthy, low-life, ne'er-do-well, scum. Cut their dole for sure, Mr. Cameron. W*nkers. |

yeah! Kate and Billy getting married is what is important. As far as the social programs. Was it Churchhill or Loyd George who said " we will put a little jam on their bread now and they will eat sh#### forever". |

Nearly every time there's protests like this it turns out the violent ones wearing black ski masks, smashing things etc. were agent provocateurs. I doubt this time was any different. |

Yes, everyone please look at the violence of the few, and never mind the many peaceful protestors concerned with the unbelievably damaging policies of the vandals in power.
They are trying to dismantle the NHS. At a time when even America has reformed its healthcare system (slightly), when Vermont recently voted in a single-payer system, the British government is moving in the opposite direction.
They are closing down libraries of all things. Because it's the cost of libraries, not bailouts, that's going to sink the country financially.
And, of course, they've already raised university tuition fees beyond the reach of thousands.
So, OP, enjoy your lickspittle service to the powerful who want to put the clock back. Not sure what you get out of it, but it's all useful to further the right-wing agenda.
I see the right-wing has its useful idiots too. |

What choice does the government have? And yet I agree with you about the bailouts. The UK is really deep in debt (over 70% of GDP). Can taxes really go any higher there (40% for those making over 35,000)? Especially given private debt rates (private debt at over 400% GDP). |

Here's a thought maybe they could get out of Iraq. I am sure that could save some money. |

They can return to tally sticks.
http://www.webofdebt.com/excerpts/chapter-5.php
They can issue money to rid the debt. They can default on the debt.
Much can be done.
England is not morally obligated to be a island hedge fund for international banksters. |

The NHS (a communist relic imposed on the British taxpayers during WWII) should be dismantled and all money refunded to the taxpayers. NHS is a scam posing as "free" healthcare. There is no such thing as a free lunch.

None of this should be payed for by tax money. If these services are cut back (they should be private charities and/or enterprises in fact), but taxes still remain ludicrously high, then that is the real problem. Entitlement riots are pathetic; tax riots against the criminal, mafia-esque central government are noble.

And what of the useful idiots who still view the world in terms of "right" and "left" wing? So-called right wing and left wing are identical: the powerful, a handful of globalist bankers, technocrats, and politically connected elite control nearly every government and NGO on earth.
Our so called leaders are puppets, bought and paid for, who read from teleprompters and tell us lies. The public are a bunch of milk-cows for the most part who go along to get along. Protesting is important, but understanding the issues is much more so. |
