I've traveled alone before, but not in Korea. I just wanted to know if anyone else has done Jeju on their own and what did they think? Or if anyone has any input about a person traveling there solo. I'm thinkin about going. Thanks!

Yes, and perhaps some more info on your travel...are you backpacking, looking to stay at cheap hostels and do things like hiking around mountains? Or are you there to see musems, hop into some period-authentic sites and follow a tour group around?

After the plane ticket I'd probably spend 300k. I'm not big into tours or anything. Probably just want to see the hot spots. Hiking, beaches, and a good restaurant and bar to end up at for the night. What's the money range lookin like?

Can I rent a scooter?

You can get a Yogwan for between 30 000-50 000 won a night.
You can pay a taxi approxiamtely 100 000 won for a day tour he shows you all the sights. Meals will be difficult most restaurants don't cater to single travellers. They might serve you for two and charge you double.
This is particularly true if you order a Sashimi dinner or Kalbi. A good place to base yourself is Sogwipo. There are some spectacular ferry tours around the Island.

If you don't speak Korean you are better of going with a Korean. They will help you around the island and you won't feel out of place in a restaurant ordering for two. If you stay in Korea for a considerable amount of time you will meet someone who will offer to take you to some island resort. It's not like going to Phuket or Cebu it just doesn't cater to the lone foreign traveller on a budget.

There are some package tours that cater to foreign tourits most of these are though the USO. If you take a Korean package tour it will be conducted entirely in Korean and you'll be rushed from place to place and not be allowed to really chill at a really cool spot. There's also little or no beach time. The Dragons Head is so overated. It looks so much better on the postcard. I'd give it a miss. One thing that's really cool. Is sitting on the vulcanic rock on the coast and eating all kinds of raw seafood dipped in Gochujang. You can do this while drinking soju. This is best done with a friend . If you go there alone there's also a good chance someone a Korean will hook up with you for a free English lesson.

I was just in Jeju last month over Seollal by myself and had a great time. As one of the posters above suggested, I based myself in Seogwipo because I prefer the south coast. There's a cheap hotel called the Hiking Inn I think that's 22,000 a night and is only a 5 minute walk from downtown.
When you get to the airport in Jeju and come out of the baggage claim, there are a couple of information booths, one with general information for the island and one with information for the Jeju Olle Trails. You can pick up a free English map there and they give you some good ideas for some mostly coastal hikes. I hiked a section near Sanbangsan in the southwest which was quite nice and then another section in the southeast where you climb up one of the oreums (volcanic hill).
Hallasan is also worth hiking up, although depending when you go the trail may be overrun with tourists. Udo off the east coast is also worth checking out. It's a 10 or 15 minute ferry from Seongsan, and you can rent a mountain bike or a scooter for quite cheap, although you may need a Korean/international license for the scooter.

Jeju on 3-4 days - yes.

You'd need quite a bit more for the Philippines.

Since you're looking for a beach you could do Boracay in 3-4 days since it's just one island, but then there's about 7,099 other islands in the Philippines.
