My friend is on SK Telecom (using a smartphone) and is very confused about how much that is meant to be paid per month. To my understanding, a package option is a package option and that is that. You pay a fixed monthly fee and get a certain amount of minutes, messages etc per month while at the same time you are gradually paying for the handset over a 12/24 month period. My friend is currently on 'All in one 55' (올인원55) which is 55,000원 per month including VAT. She also signed up for a 스페셜할인 extra service (I have no idea what benefit that gives...) which is 19,250 won per month. She assumed that would be a 'deduction' from 55,000 but I believe it is simply a way of paying for the handset at a cheaper value. Anyway, in the first month she ended up paying over 70,000 won out of the blue. This months payment was exactly 70200 won. Can anyone explain why this is working out so expensive? Clearly 55,000 plus 19,250 does not equal 70200 won, so that is a little 'unclear'...
Also, how much do you pay at the end of the contract to buy the handset? |

Seems to be a lot of confusion here. First, VAT is NOT included. They will add 10% tax on to whatever your total charges are. The 스페셜할인 is not an extra service. This is the money that you are paying for the phone itself. It's called a discount because it is a significant discount over the normal price of the phone (the price you would pay if you weren't on a contract).

I'm not sure if I understand this question. If you finish the contract and you've made all of the payments you own the phone. No need to pay anything more. If you want to cancel before the contract ends you'll have to pay the full price of the phone (not the special discount price) for the months remaining on the contract.
As far as the final price of 70,200 won. Who knows where this number could have come from. In addition to the phone changes and tax, there could be other charges and/or discounts involved as well. If you post the full itemized bill here someone will be able to explain it. It might have been mailed to you or sent via email or text message but you should have got one. If you haven't, ask SK to send you one. |

always tell them not to bs with hidden tax, options, etc. and just ask for the bottom line. what will i pay in total including everything and compare the price with other telecom companies.
as a result i'm paying only 65,000 won for "all in one (55) plan" with samsung S phone which is 5000 - 10,000 won less per month than others including koreans. |

There does seem to be a bit of confusion.
The 55,000 won plan (올인원55) is for her service, that doesn't include her phone payment.
The cost of the phone (and monthly payment) depends on the model of phone and plan (which you identified as 올인원55) she has.
Regarding the 스페셜할인...that translates into "Special Discount", and it applies to the price of the handset. She obviously didn't have things explained clear to her, whether it was the retailer or a translator.
I can't give you specific numbers because I don't know what model phone she has, but I have a Galaxy S through SK, and my bill comes out to around 70k every month. Which is normal with my plan (the same 올인원55) and my phone payment+VAT. VAT is not included in that 55,000 plan either. And should roughly amount to 10% of the total bill (service + phone payment).
I hope that cleared some things up. |

Ok, seems clear enough anyway after having checked the details on the 청구서 (bill). |
