The worst yellow dust storms in decades are forecast to blanket the country this spring between April and May as northeast China and Inner Mongolia have suffered severe droughts.

Experts are voicing concern that the yellow dust blowing from China could contain radioactive particles, originating from leaks of the quake-crippled nuclear reactors in Japan.

It always amazes me that Korean men, millions of whom smoke two or three packs a day, suddenly get all concerned about the health of their lungs when the yellow sand hits. Believe me, if your lungs are turning black it's not because of the sand from China.

Yeah, funny isn't it, Maclean. This fear over yellow dust with all the cancer sticks they smoke. And they smoke like chimneys and further pollute the environment. They will ultimately pay the price though.

My throat gets super sore during yellow dust season. Could anyone recommend a decent particulate-filtering mask? I have my doubts about the regular ones.

Better start increasing our kimchi consumption! Or wait, is it seaweed this time? Or is it ginseng?

I'm so confused. Crying or Very sad

I asked my co-workers if it would be OK if I wore one of those orange bio-hazard-suits to work. You know, the ones that look like space suits and filter out all air coming in. My colleagues sort of inferred that it wasn't so 'normal'... so maybe I'll just call in sick that day.

"Sorry, can't come to work today. Sick from the yellow dust."

They'll understand.

People fear the unknown. Cigarettes are within their realm of control whereas the environment is not.

It's samgyeopsal when the yellow dust kicks in. Just clears the stuff in your throat right out!

I usually stay home all day if I can when yellow dust comes out. The worst on record in Korea was in 2002 but there's talk that this year's could rival that. Shocked
