Hi everyone,

Not sure if there's a thread like this already, but I've only been able to find the Spring 2011 and August 2010 ones. Just thought that I would create one for those of us applying for the August 2011 EPIK recruitment. It could be helpful to give each other advice, and perhaps keep each other company as we wait. Very Happy

Anyways, where's everybody at in their application process? Just sent my applications and sworn declarations to my recruiter today. Waiting to hear back to see if she's sent it off yet. I'm a recent graduate but hoping to get into Seoul! *fingers crossed* Ahhh

Good luck. These threads can be really helpful. Plus there will probably be quite a few veterans in the pool this intake period.

I wrote the "example" reference letter and I am waiting on my co-teacher to print it out and sign it.

I'm tearing my hair out trying to fit my teaching style into the requested format. I focus on topics, not grammar points, grrrrr!!!!

I'm trying to figure out why in the world I would want to stay in Korea another year...not that I don't want to, but my contract finishes up in June and I'm really looking forward to getting a break this summer!

I'm still wondering if I should go through a recruiter or try to go through the government program.

Well I just sent off my sworn declaration and application, but I found out I've gotta do the lesson plan since I want Seoul, so working on that now.

UGHHHHH.... I sent off my complete application package to my recruiter yesterday, and made some revisions this morning. Called in to see if she's sent it off yet but was told she went home for the day and that I'd have to wait for Monday. I'm so anxious. Sad :S

Yeah I know, but I'm wondering if it's better to use recruiters or just send your application to epik.go.kr

I think that if it's your first time applying, you might want to consider going through a recruiter. They actually helped me out quite a bit by reading through my application and told me what to fix (missed questions, formatting, etc.) They'll also read through all your other documents, like recommendation letters and stuff like that.
(Note that I haven't gotten into EPIK yet so I can't say whether they were good or bad yet.. just what I think so far).

On the other hand, I've heard about people having a lot of bad experiences with recruiters. Just do your research when picking the recruiter you want to go with I guess.

My first go at it as well - currently I'm waiting on the FBI BC - also shopping for good hagwons b/c I might go that route as well. Can't really do very much until the BC comes back. Lots of emailing recruiters, scanning apostilled *is that even a word?* copies of my University diploma, passport, etc. Emailing people that I know that either have, or, are currently, in S.Korea teaching. Also considering the possibility of teaching in Thailand - on the fence about getting TEFL certified also. I have many things to consider! Waiting is very hard b/c I'm so anxious to start, but I will be waiting a while for my BC check anyways so I"m trying to decide what is best for me personally, what would make me happiest (as much as you can gauge that without experience at least lol). Surfing the web and lurking in various forums has been very helpful. Just getting a feel for things is good, but I'm tired of just getting my feet wet - I'm ready to jump!
Ah well, I can wait a few months...
so yea.... thats where i'm at haha

Yeah finished my lesson plan this evening, so I'm just waiting for my reference letters to arrive before I submit my application.

Just need to start getting my documents in order now...

I sent my completed application for EPIK and SMOE to my recruiter on the 30th, and she promptly replied with some corrections I needed to make. Sent the revised ones Friday night. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.

Received confirmation today from my recruiter that my application's been sent off. AHHHHH, the wait begins.

Quote:
We will notify you the moment we hear from EPIK about your application. It could take a few days to a few weeks for EPIK to review your application depending on how many applications they have received. Well be sure to let you know the date and time your interview will take place.

Definitely hope it's not a few weeks!! Shocked

I sent mine in a while back.
Although today, i recieved some worrying news from my recruiter.

However I got an e-mail today, saying that EPIK have now sent out declarations, stating that we have to fill in these forms stating that we will be attending the orientation and training course, which they need to recieve back.

for the TEFL/TESOL/CELTA, you also need to submit proof of enrolment, so send a request to the training body your doing it with and get them to send it back to EPIK.

I was waiting till the end of the month to pay for it, seeing as it's quite expensive, but now if I can't submit this, i'll have to take it off my application.

Sounds like EPIK are badly trying to cut costs.

Anyone else being asked to do this?
