Ok so my hagwon's Kinder class has closed so I now only need to teach Elementary class. My boss is trying to use this an excuse to cut my wage to 1.8. I will still be working from 2-7:30 and I am pretty sure he can't change the contracted wage. I am going to tell him to get lost but is there any legal stuff I can hit him with when I do?

You are paid on salary, yes? Therefore he cannot change it. Does your contract say that you will be paid for 30 hours even if you don't work 30 hours? Some do, some don't, but as far as I know, you're on good legal grounds.

What RMNC said. Does your contract specify a monthly wage?

Same hours with less pay? Stuff it.

Less hours with less pay? I'd be more reasonable. See what you can get out of him in exchange.

He can't change your salary. If you want to play ball with him try to negotiate.

If he wants to cut your pay tell him to cut your hours too AND give you permission to get a part-time job some where else. Or if he wants to cut your pay, ask for an extra 2-4 weeks of PAID vacation.

Time off and less working hours make sense. Then, you can agree later to move on to another school. This is why I never take kindergarten classes. Schools depend on them too much.

Motion for your boss to stand next to you in front of a mirror and ask "Do I look Korean?"

Depends on your contract OP.

If it is a salary clause (set monthly wage) your employer cannot reduce your pay like this.

If it is an hourly pay contract then lower hours can indeed mean lower pay.

I would negotiate with him. I like what jrwhite82 said. It could be very beneficial to you if you take a part time class in the morning elsewhere. I'd be weary of taking on paid vacation time instead of permission to add another employer or less physical hours on sight as you may be told later that "paid vacation" is no longer feasible. Don't let pride get in the way of what's best for you. If not, tell him you understand but you need your wage, try to leave in a pleasant manner and get a release.

All these OPs start threads and never come back. Oh well.

I'd take less pay for less aggro, depends on the situation.
