Howdy Folks,

My laptop is kaput and I need to buy a new one. I'm thinking of running by Yongsan after work this week, and I'd like some advice.

Do any of you have a guy/gal/vendor you recommend? Ive had good luck checking with this community when it comes to buying games in Yongsan, and I'm hoping to have the same as I get set to purchase a new laptop.

As far as the computer goes, I'm not looking for anything uber-powerful. Really, I just need a general use laptop. It doesnt need to run Crysis 2.

you might want to know which pc you want to buy first before you go.
compare prices inline for that model, walk around yongsan and see if vendors will best that price and or throw in some freebies..

I don't like Yongsan much.

I'd check the prices at you're local Homeplus/EMart to get a benchmark and handle some notebooks you like first before heading into the lines den!

I don't know what the savings might be but for 50,00-100,000 it might be a nicer time at a dept store?

Sheriff, have you purchased a laptop from one of the chain stores? If so, how was the experience?

If I can avoid Yongsan I'd be glad to do it.

On a related note: I imagine the default for Windows 7 out here will be Korean? Is it easy enough to switch over to English? Is that even an option?

Price check Enuri.com first. Pay close attention to specs. Buy from an authorized dealer.

I know for a fact that all new HP and Sony laptops give you the choice of language at first boot with Windows 7.

Hey guys... i'm going to head to Yongsan today to get a cheap used laptop...

Specs
intel celeron M,
windows XP,
100GB HD or less

only using for internet and office 2010 (to make lesson plans)... i will have this laptop for 5 months and give it to my gf later on.

what do you expect the price to be? I'm hoping less than 150k with a battery pack and adapter.. i'm gonna ask for free stuff as well.

Also... if i'm using the internet (flash 10.1)... should I try to get more memory?

Honestly don't think I'd bother buying something for 150,000. I'd rather spend 250,000 and get something that will work.

No, used.. unless you go netbook. You can get into a new netbook for about 280,000 on the bottom end. Used might be 210,000 or so, and up.

I don't think you'll find much in a laptop that's not 5-6+ years old for 150,000. That said, if you enter the Sun-in building from the main entrance (opposite end from the tunnel) and enter the right front door, there are a few used sellers just inside.

Yeppers... check the Sun-in building. If you find a place you like, make sure to get their business card so you can find them again if you get lost. The place is an odd-shaped maze.

Well I went back home empty handed... actually not really... when sellers start to grab you and say come here.. I guess I got a few of those :/

Anyways... my gf decided to go for a new laptop.

We are willing to put down 700k.

What do you guys recommend? What is a nice website?

Man I just need it for internet, office 2010 and I guess hopefully they have a damn webcam on the thing so we can skype. Shoot, I would love to grab a SSD but thats not possible of course.

Please help this poor sap... I'm here at her parent's house... and on her sister's computer. hahaha

What do you guys think? I know Office 2010 will be good to go. Do you guys think it can run Civ5? I'm not a big FPS so... I don't care about that but running strategy games like Civ5 or even Heroes of Company would be awesome.

For Windows 7, I just went through this myself. As long as it comes with a copy of Windows 7, it'll have a license key on the bottom. Just download (completely legal) an equivalent Windows 7 install disc from the internet -- Google "Windows 7 32-bit professional" or whatever you have on it. Your license key will work to install it.

It's a fair laptop for the price ( I guess) but they've skimped and given you 2gig of RAM I know I know it;s easy to just say 'get more get more' but you really should get more, it'll feel a lot faster with 4gig in there.

Either upgrade yourself or look for a *slightly* higher spec model.

Yeah, not a gaming laptop but he is looking to play games on it.
I think I've seen better laptop deals in homeplus tbh.

This is nearly 800,000's worth!
