Does anyone have any experience with either of these two? If I spent a night in Busan would I be able to get back at 2-3 in the morning?

Is this the Yangsan outside of Ulsan where the new KTX station is located? If so, the KTX, train, and bus lines to Ulsan (closest city) and Busan (closest big city) will not be running past midnight. Yangsan itself is a town of nothing.

The southern part of Yangsan is on the Busan subway line. I think to get from downtown Busan (Seomyeon) to Yangsan, it takes 45 minutes.

The KTX is at Eonyang, not Yansan, outside of Ulsan.

To the OP, nights here often run to 5-6am, at which time busses and the subway will be running again.

Don't have any experience with the hagwon, but I currently live in Yangsan. To answer your question about going out and being home by 2 or 3, yes you can easily do that but your only option is taxi. Depending on what area of Busan your out in, it can run you 20,000-40,000 for the taxi ride back to Yangsan. If you got enough people going back with you, not a big deal, but doing it alone can suck and add up so most people make it an all night thing and wait for the subway.

There's a fair amount of foreigners spread throughout Yangsan. It's a nice town, but it by no means has the action and nightlife of Busan, but Busan itself isn't that far so thats good. If you have any questions about Yangsan feel free to ask.
