I have several questions.
1) Is it true that if you are submitted to the public schools in Korea by more that one recruiter or agency you will be disqualified?
2)Is it okay to apply directly (not using a recruiter) to EPIK (English Program in Korea)? What would the advantages or disadvantages be?
3)Should I have an Apostille on original documents or copies or both?
4)How long is the FBI criminal background check honored?

Thanks for your help.

1. Yes but it's very uncommon as most schools only use one recruiter. If you're scared then just don't be a doofus and double check.

2. Yes. The advantages are that you will get the real deal from the school with no polish. The downside is that unless you speak Korean, it's going to be hard.

3. Get the originals apostilled, then make copies of the originals with the (copied) apostilles attached. Nothing original should be sent out, even apostilles. Keep your original apostilled diploma and original apostilled CBC on hand at all times. There is (obviously) no use in getting a copy of a CBC apostilled (I don't think they do that).

4. 6 months.

Thanks RMNC as you answered some questions I had as well.

I would like to make one addition: I didn't want to get my diplomas messed up, so I got a certified copy from my University's registrar. My secretary of state had no issues apostilling them. I don't know if this works or not, as I haven't gotten a position yet, but I figure it should be just as good.

Thanks RMNC! I won't be a doofus, I'll ask. As a newbie I'm a little intimdated by the unknown.

Is it inappropriate to ask for Recruiter/Agency referrals? I'm getting ten emails a day from agencies and even a few school directors, and don't really know who to trust.

If you're smart, you'll stay away. Wait a few months till the Nuclear thing with Japan dies down. Go down to Thailand or Vietnam instead.

this makes no sense. if anything the time would be perfect to come now because of thinning numbers of interested people due to this exact type of mentality. korea is in no immediate risk from the situation in japan.

hell, if you really wanted to be proactive, find a job in southern japan teaching english and hold on to all the yen until it regains strength again.

The amount of radiation released at the site of the accident is less than two chest Xrays. AT THE SITE ITSELF.

The Nuclear thing is not an issue. To the sensationalist media, it is. It's a great time to get a job in Japan.
