teachers are supposed to be role models for students.
schools or any job should do their due diligence when hiring someone. if said offense is known and they are hired because they can set a positive example for students. let them be hired.
if past was revealed and is detrimental, sorry you have to go.
thats what happens to politicians, some skeleton is uncovered and they resign. however most of the time is something they did while in office. |

They should be able to move on with their lives, but that doesn't give them the right to teach children whose parents don't want them spending 8 hours a day with ex-whores.

I dn't think it's that big of a deal. It's the fact she advertised she did it, not that she did it. Being a role model is not about being perfect. |

There is a pretty big gap between expecting perfection and expecting a work history free of prostitution or serious crime. |

She advertised it. That was her big mistake. While I don't love the idea of a former prostitute teaching children, if she was a stupid, wild 19-year-old hooker who changed her ways, we should be able to look past that, as I know plenty of people who have done other really stupid things while young, including myself. Life is a learning process.
She showed extremely poor judgment in broadcasting it to the world, though. A pseudonym would have been more than acceptable. I do think that she deserves to be fired for having broadcast it publicly under her own name. |

No one be alarmed, Fox is just vaguely spewing his ideologically insecure and vitriol anti-hooker views.
Gotta fire the pro tho. |

Is this how it's going to be? Another whiny punk, upset about a discussion ending poorly for him, following me around posting lame snarks in hopes of making himself look and feel less pathetic? Banal. |

Well, you have been throwing the term *beep* around a lot in this thread. I acknowledge and respect the your point of view but your choice of words open you up to some criticism. Not wanting ex-prostitutes to work at your kids school seems like a reasonable thing. Referring to them repeatedly as whores and ex-whores makes it seem like you might have another ax to grind. |

yeah, i was gonna say something about it, his use of the word ex-WHOREs just seems to be filled with so much judgment and condemnation made me laugh. reminds me of some really conservative religious nut.
didn't want to mention it though because the response would probably be: well that's what they are, right? |

J isn't concerned with any of that. He's upset because I was harsh to him in a CE thread the other day, which is why I responded as I did.
That said, I do have an ax to grind, but it's not about prostitutes in and of themselves. The ax I've been grinding in this thread is about the fact that more and more, it seems like our society is inching towards giving up on the idea of ethical excellence and embracing a philosophy of "no standard is too low." I openly admit to having strong feelings about this topic, though they aren't driven by religion. There is judgment and condemnation in my words, but it's intended to be directed at the defenders of ex-sex workers in the classroom more than the women themselves. To that end, my choice to use the less "sanitary" term was intentional and intended to be noticed.
Admittedly, I didn't expect anyone would respond by crudely implying my mother sells her body for sex, but perhaps I should have, and the implication outrages me far less than the social position being adopted by the individual from whom that implication arose. |

Ended poorly for me? As in, ended in me calling you a coward and a fool for making up fake terms like "poverty culture" to replace "black culture?" Right.
And for NEVER making any argument to back the same hateful speech you're being called out for here?
I'll call you a bitter and pathetic old man here, as I did there, because all of your posts reek of your personal insecurities, hatred for others, and contempt for what you perceive as downfalls in society. It's a trend in every post you make. Regardless of your pseudo-diplomatic response to cover your tracks here.
Your paranoid rantings about hookers, blacks, and jfromtheway "following" you by responding to something you had already posted around 4 different times on, all seem par for the course for you. Clown.

i don't think selling your body for sex is morally or ethically wrong.
however, i wouldn't want my mom or daughter or gf to have done that. |

Exactly. It ended in you shrieking at me like an angry chimpanzee after I had decided to simply stop responding to you. In a word, poorly. And given this brief discussion between us is ending the same way right now, that's another proud little chalk mark for your wall of inanity.
With that out of the way, I'd prefer to go back to the topic at hand now, if anyone else wishes to challenge my points (or wisely agree with them!). |

Why don't you want them to have done it, if it's not wrong? |

No one wants that, but it's not always a "right" or "wrong" issue. Women in every country of the world are often forced into prostitution or have sex for money to maintain their livelihood. It doesn't always have to represent a scarlet letter.
I'm hardly shrieking at you also, just pointing out the subtext and underpinnings of your consistently bitter tone. I agreed with you this time. |
