I'm looking to travel in December and to arrive in Korea in February (before the 3 month period so my visa issued to me does not expire), and will earn a degree in October. This will help me get my visa, however I'm wondering when is a good time to check out perspective employers?
Is it common to have a job lined up in advance? So that as soon as I get my degree in October I can set up an interview with the consulate in Canada for my visa?? My ideal situation is to have a job offer so that receiving my visa shortly after getting my degree will go smoothly. This is my first time traveling to Korea, and I'm wondering what the leniency is for booking contracts in advance. Could I possibly be awarded a contract for some time in February, or in March, while still getting my visa in December and traveling in February? Thanks in advance for any help on these questions! |

You can't even begin the visa application process (visa confirmation number) until AFTER you have the consulate certified copy in your hot little hands and sent off to Korea.
THEN it will take another 12-21 days before you can book your consular visit for the interview and visa application.
Then it will take another 2-4 days for the visa issuance.
Save your breath and time.
Read your face off.
Finish school.
Apply for your CRC from the RCMP.
Get your parchment.
Take your parchment and CRC to the Korean consulate for certification.
Now start looking for a job (should not take long but do be aware that the school year ends in Dec. and begins in March).
AFTER you get a visa you have 90 days to get to Korea but by-and-large your employer will want you ASAP (usually they only have 30-60 days notice that they need a new teacher and 1/2 of that time is spent processing paperwork).
