Hello!

I was contacted by Sooyoun Choi, who is in charge of Gyeonggi Provinces foreign language websites and blogs. She is looking for more English blogs in their providence to post to on their website (http://eng.gg.go.kr/). If you do have any, feel free to send her an e-mail ([email protected] / [email protected]). They will also provide your URL on the article and credit you.

Just wanted to pass along the information for them. They had contacted me through my blog, but I do not live in their province.

Thanks! Smile

I assume this is for "positive" only blogs, and not realistic ones?

Which expat bloggers do you have in mind? The one who won the essay contest about Dokdo? The ones who love K-Pop or the ones who love every restaurant?

if you think about it, if someone had the tenacity and ability to consistently praise life in Korea at every turn and be so over the top about it, that any native speaker would know it was a running joke, it'd be amusing.

for a while at least.

I'm not exactly "positive"---that is, don't have endorsement deals with bars in Itaewon, don't specialize in Top Ten lists, don't specialize in self-promotion, and haven't become hackneyed with the same stuff over and over and over---and I got the email, too.

But, a few times a month I get emails from some Korean website or other asking me to use my posts (for free, of course), so I imagine whomever is in charge just finds a link list and emails every one. It's nice to be included with this Gyeonggi-do one, but a lot of these blog collections don't last more than a month.

We have good days and bad days. I can post about the good ones and today wasn't that good but I took some photos that show my kids having a good time speaking english...sorta!

Thanks for the info. I hardly ever blog but I think that as I grow in confidence as a teacher, I may also grow into more blogging.

It's bars, restaurants, and pie shops in Itaewon and other locations that own bloggers. But somehow I always figured you would win that Dokdo essay contest. Laughing

Why don't you post about the bad ones? Seems like people would want to know real life.

Look, there's good and bad in Korea. We all know that, by now. Just be realistic when you blog. Don't try to claim that everything is good, like K-Pop. The bloggers who try to sell K-Pop to us should be trying to sell western music, you know, like the Beatles, to Koreans. How tough would that be? Who ever said "The Beatles? No, I can't support them. I'd rather go with Big Bang. Big Bang is better than the Beatles."

You can blog about some good things in Korea. There are many good things. Just don't paint a skunk red and tell everyone it's a rose. Know what I mean?
