Hi guys!
I'll soon be moving to Jeonju in order to start my new job as an English teacher. I was hoping to get a bunch of helpful advice before I leave from people who have done it all before I have been to Jeonju before and I have stayed there with my girlfriend for a period of time. I suppose there was still a lot of things I missed and a great deal of information still to discover before I depart! So here's a few questions if you guys don't mind giving your input?
1. What's it like to teach English in Jeonju? More to the point, what is it like to teach English to Korean kids? My class will be elementary level and the age range is 9-14 years of age.
2. Does anybody have any good advice for teaching 9-14 year old Korean kids? I guess they are generally well behaved, more so than England anyway
3. Can anyone give me some hints and tips on the art of teaching 9-14 year old kids in Korea. Of course, any stories and information will be of use!
4. What is the foreign community like in Jeonju. When I was there I didn't really see that many foreigners, but then again I did not have a job at that point in time!
5. Are there any of you guys living there now?! If so, maybe you would be interested in meeting up when I arrive (towards the end of this month)
I'm sure I have hundreds more questions, but these are the ones that spring to mind right now hehe
Thank you guys!

I think you might have more success if you divide your questions between the teaching forums (best way to teach young kids) and the general forum (what is Jeonju like).
searcheslcafe.com is a good search engine for this site and other ESL blogs. I would recommend starting there.
Good luck and welcome to Korea. |

Visited there a couple of times. Like a Metropolitan city without actually being one. Has Home Plus, Dunkin Donuts, TGI Fridays, etc. Went to a foriegner bar called Deep In, I think. My friend sent me a link about the place:

I am also going to be leaving for Jeonju soon (in May) to teach English. Let me know what you find out! |
