If you wanted to introduce a new food (or a 'correct' version of one currently available) what foods do you think Koreans would most happily embrace, relish and adopt?

Garlic bread without sugar? Jjangmyeon made of real natural ingredients? Tang su yuk without corn syrup? Solleongtang without non-dairy creamer? Nachos which were enjoyable to eat? Budaejiggae with home cured meat instead of spam?

Some decent side dishes to go with the fried chicken like mashed potatoes, waffles, collard greens, and mac & cheese.

Do you think that would be popular though?

I believe fried chicken is just an excuse to drink beer. Korean men like fried chicken because it doesn't fill them up while they're drinking their beer. I suspect they'd have no interest in the side dishes you mentioned.

I, personally, have a MASSIVE interest in those side dishes. I just don't think Koreans will. Unfortunately.

How about Mexican style corn on the cob? They slather it in mayonnaise, roll it in parmesan cheese, goop on a little margarine and then dust it with chili powder.

Of course first you would have to introduce Koreans to real corn on the cob.

Burritos!~

cheese, spanish rice (or plain rice), refried beans, sour cream, salsa, guac, etc.

I've experimented and, so far - so good. Many of my K friends like it.

most of them hate cilantro, though.

koreans are fussy eaters except when it comes to their own food, so i tend to think of what children like to eat. and they have most of that here already: cheese sticks, hot dogs, etc.

if beef weren't so expensive here, i could see chicken/country fried steak taking off. similar enough to donkasseu except for the gravy.

An olive bar-- with olives in a barrel, not pre-packaged, would be very successful, methinks... They already know of the benefits of olive oil, getting them to buy a 1/2 kilo of cured Kalamata olives or Red-pepper infused green olives wouldn't be a stretch, given some proper marketing/advertising....It even goes well with Korean cuisine, no need to adapt or eat it separately, just add to the Kimchi/muu sides.

It's actually hard to tell. You would think Koreans would like Thai food but very few do. I think they would like a nice spicy North American chicken wings. Of all the western foods I think Koreans have embraced Fried chicken the most. There are so many Chicken hofs. Many are putting each other out of business. The chicken hof industry is cutthrout.

You're right.
Most Ks don't like 'real curry' because it
is too sweet. The coconut milk is what the problem is.
