|
|
There's no shortage of Indian buffets in Itaewon, but when I saw a flyer for a Middle East buffet last week, I had to go.
I was not disappointed: for 15,000 won, they had about 10 dishes, all of them good and some of them excellent, many of them with meat and many without, as well as very sour yogurt (as it should be!) and great hummus. The place wasn't busy but the food was still fresh and hot. The decor was nice too.
Go out of exit 3 at Itaewon station. At the first corner, turn right. It's on the left side of the street, in the basement where What the Book? used to be, a few doors past the Foreign Food Mart. |

Good stuff. I haven't been eating much Middle Eastern food lately... gonna have to try this one out.
On a separate note, I was sad to see that Moroccan restaurant disappear. Not the big one, but the tiny one (called Marakesh Nights), it could seat like 10 people max, sort of between Berlin and the money exchange place. Wonder what ever happened to those two Morroccan dudes that ran that place. I quite liked them. I used to stop in and drink a beer with them once in a while... oh well. |

The name is "Alsalam Damascus" (good luck pronouncing that one!) and it's up the hill, past the Foreign Food Mart (the Foreign Restaurant is down the hill). |

Yeah, I've been to the big Marakesh Nights down the street near the international clinic, but I didn't find it that great, or as fresh, as the smaller place. It seemed to be run by different people. |

OP,
This sounds good. Any chance you could elaborate on the dishes that were on offer?
Thanks |

I don't know what most of them were, but besides the hummus and yogurt I wrote in the OP, there was lentil soup, bread, baklava, pineapple, plus a bunch of dishes with vegetables and meat (chicken and beef). I don't know what those dishes were, but some of them were very good.
Sadly no pita, but the hummus was pretty good (not fantastic, but definitely good). |
