I heard a story a few years ago about a famous singer in Korea who has one Korean parent and one black parent. I only remember a small part about the story I was listening to, but I think she said she was treated badly growing up because of her race, but is now famous and admired. I saw her on tv the other night and it reminded me of that story. Does anyone know her name? I think it's an interesting story and I want to look up more information and listen to some of her music.

The few times I've heard her actually sing I wasn't impressed. She just shouts out in a big bombastic R'n'B workout. Not much subtlety or art. Just like a poorman's Tina Turner during her big-hair, stomping thighs, late 80's era.
