Anyone gotten a dental implant in Korea?
My tooth (or empty spot, in the back) is fine, but I am just curious as to how much it costs in Korea.

| i was at a place near sungshin women's university and they were advertising a new technology for 1,200,000w a tooth. not sure if you have to pay for anything else... |

depending if you want a bridge or an implant, the price differs.
I'm getting two done and they are costing me nearly 3 million all in. |

| same boat. have to get one. and probably with it bridging to the tooth one one side or both... not going to be cheap. But most people say average implants are around 2 m all things included |

2 million? Wow. I got mine done a year ago, an implant and root canal treatment, for a little under one million. This was for an enamel tooth and not gold. A bridge would have cost me about 1.5 million from the same place. (I think.)
It was at a dentists in Sillim, they didn't speak English, but I have had no problems with the tooth since. |

| Just had a molar implant..cost me 2 million won. Implant with porcelain fused to gold (PFG) crown. Had I known now I would have gone with a zirconia crown for the extra money. A good dental group in the Philippines also quoted me about the same. Normally implants with crown are anywhere from $3000 to $5000 per tooth in the USA! I'd be suspicious of getting an implant with crown for under 1 million won. |

This is odd. Why would they bridge an implant? Implants have long replaced the need for bridgework, which is considered to be a dated practice among dentists anyways.
When I went to the dentist he quoted me 1.5m for the bridge and 2m won for the implant and crown. The problem with bridges is that they don't last as long. It also sometimes means crowning a healthy tooth to complete the bridgework. I didn't want to destroy two healthy teeth to fix one missing tooth, so obviously I went with the implant. However if the two adjacent teeth are bad then a bridge may be a good alternative. Expect a bridge to only last about 10 years. An implant with proper care..30 to 40 years. |

Bad idea to go with missing teeth. Either get a bridge or implant, leaving the gap is not an option.
Our mouths were designed to function best with a full complement of teeth. Each type of tooth � molars, bicuspids, eye-teeth and incisors � serve a specific function for the first step to digestion: chewing our food!
Missing adult teeth can lead to a variety of dental problems. Some of these include:
Increased Tooth Damage � the missing teeth create a change in the force your jaw exerts to bite and chew, putting extra stress on remaining teeth that can lead to potential damage.
Shifting Teeth � teeth can move around, causing crooked teeth.
Jaw Pain � discomfort and pain in the jaw is a side-effect of teeth shifting.
Tooth Decay � as teeth shift, the plaque and resulting tartar are harder to reach, resulting in cavities and gum disease.
Bone Loss � since teeth stimulate the jaw bone, the gums and jaw bone shrink once a tooth is missing.

| If you have a missing tooth and they didn't put bone graft inside the gum when you lost that molar, you may not be able to do an implant. Check with your dentist. |

Had three implants done. Cost 6,500,000 won. Included bone and skin grafts. The whole process took almost 6 months.
My advice. Pick a dentist that is both experienced and close by, as you may need to make mulitple visits. |

Just put in the screws. Cost me 1.5 million for 1, bottom molar. I should be finished with everything in about 3 months. The worst thing isn't the pain even though that's pretty terrible. Is the drinking and smoking while your bone is regrowing around the screw. That just sucks all the fun out of life
Implant is always the 1st choice. I think if you lose it the 1st time, they try a 2nd attempt at an implant with a deeper hole and bigger screws. If you lose that one too, then they're just do a bridge. |

Just finished having two done a few months ago. Awesome! What a difference. Cost me about 3 million to have both done and that included everything from initial consult to the final check up xray.
I didn't need the bone graft however. I'm sure that would have been extra. One tooth took 6 months and the other took 9 months. |

What's this about a bone graft? I had a tooth removed a few years back and didn't do anything with it due to lack of money. Now that I have money, I was going to get an implant (and lots of other stuff  ). Is it absolutely necessary? |

Yoda is 100% correct. I had a 25 year old bridge removed and needed a bone graft. Along with the bone graft, I needed a skin graft to cover the bone graft. Like I said before, it was a 6 month process. YMMV. |
