I went through 8 months of being ignored by my Ko-teachers. Luckily, I desired no friendship with those people. I even re-signed and finished another year there. I just ignored them, too. It's not a job requirement to be friends with the Korean teachers. I think you're underestimating the value of silence.

Didn't they give you a bad review on your performance test, so therefore you couldn't renew? I kind of want to stay here for a second year. So therefore, I need a good review. But then again, I might follow your route and ignore them.

Seriously?? Why? Doesn't sound like the kind of pleasant work environment that would inspire one to sign up for a second year.

Some guys secretly enjoy the silent treatment.

If you want to keep some measure of self respect and while returning to a friendly work environment you should approach the person you are having trouble with and talk to her. Preface with an apology, but at the same time explain exactly what she did that caused your opinion of her in the first place.

You are only apologizing for the public name calling. Let's face it, calling someone a bitch on facebook is childish. Be firm on why you said what you did, and ask her what the two of you can do to settle this. Depending on who it is and what she did to set you off, you will either make things awkward, worse, or better.

Also delete your facebook account. I suspect it will only get you into more trouble in the future.

You have been well advised by Artris to take a proactive approach towards cleaning up the toxic work environment that resulted from your careless editorializing on FB.

With 6 months remaining on your contract, it is certainly in your best interest to apologize to your co-worker, discuss the issue with her, and attempt to re-build a professional working relationship with her.

Failure to create the semblance of a professional work environment will undoubtedly result in a long, tension-filled 6 months. In this scenario, everyone loses: you, your co-teacher, and your students.

If your FB comments were circulated among your co-workers, you may have additional collateral damage to contend with. If this is the case, it may be worthwhile to take the initiative, and discuss the issue with your principal or vice principal- before they discuss it with you. This will at least demonstrate to them that you are taking responsibility for your role in the matter, and seeking to restore harmony to the workplace.

My wife is not Korean and was working with me in the same school. We didn't care about the silent treatment. We welcomed it.

I can't say I'm too bothered that someone whinging on Facebook has had to account for their actions. I realise it's probably an easy slip up to make if you're the type that posts a lot, but honestly... what were you thinking?
