|
|
So Ive been at my job for just over two months. Today the head teacher asked me to provide the school with my ARC, passport, and degree so that they could take it to the local education board to register me (or something like that). The other foreign teachers here have had to do the same thing so its not unusual I guess. The problem is that I dont have an apostilled copy of my degree here with me....Does anyone know what the exact requirements are in this situation (I live in Seongnam)? Do you think they would accept a scanned copy of my degree? I mean I obviously have a degree otherwise I wouldnt have been allowed to work here in the first place. |

All they need are copies and only immigration requires notarization and apostilles. Your head teacher doesnt need to take the originals anywhere - nor should you allow him/her to do so. They can watch you make the copies of the originals, but I wouldnt let them out of my grasp. You can choose not to follow this advice, but then, in a little while, I will be expecting a follow-up thread about how your diploma is not being returned to you..... |

I gave my school my original without issue. I wouldn't be concerned if all the other foreign teachers got theirs back without issue. |

I dont have my original here in Korea either
What I do have is a scan of my apostilled degree in my email outbox that I sent to a recruiter. I hope that scaned copy will be sufficiant........In case it's not, however, does anyone know if it' possible to get back the documents that were sent to immigration? |

Once immigration gets your documents, they are gone. Print the scanned copy, copy your passport and ARC and give them to your head teacher. That's all that they need - even if they try to tell you otherwise. |

Update:
The city education board is being a pain in the ass.
My head teacher just came back from there, and they refused to accept my scanned copy. They need either an apostilled copy of my degree or the original. |

go back tomorrow, to a different window, have a color copy printed out and it should go through fine.
they do not need the real one or a certified copy. any kind of business with city officials is crap shoot on how the person is feeling that day |

Do what the above poster says. This is common. |
