What: Biannual Deokjeokdo Camping Trip (May and September)
Where: Seopori Beach, Deokjeok Island
When: May 7,8,9, 2011 (Sat, Sun, Mon)
Price: Free This is a DIY affair
How: 60min. ferry from Domestic Ferry Terminal in Yeonam Budu(Incheon Port), bus to beach 10min
Ferry Info: (032)887-2891~5
Abodes: There is camping on the beach or motels, I recommend camping.
Food: There are restaurants and supermarkets, again I recommend
bring your own food in a cooler and cooking on the beach.
To Do: Swimming, disk golf, camp fires, camp songs, camp sex
Notes: The ferry is usually really full this time of year so I would
reserve tickets now.

1/ As always, Master of the Universe "Cups" tourney. (beer-in-hand-rule-applies)
2/ The never ending "last hole leader chooses next hole" disk golf
tourney. (beer-in-hand-rule-applies)

4/ The usual campfire.

I thought Samsung was turning Seopori Beach into a resort. The last time I was there, there was a bunch of construction going on. Anyone been there recently? |

this is the same weekend in between children's day and buddha's birthday.. think most people will either be out of town or at DJ fest..
pretty cool weekend getaway though.. however the pensions i've been to on the island are kinda crappy if you aren't into camping.. |

I went to one of these gatherings a few years ago during Chuseok. I went with a group of 20 and we expected to be the biggest group there. We were shocked when we got there and found a couple hundred people drinking and partying around a huge bonfire all night. I had a way better time than I did at mudfest. Don't sleep on this if you've never been. Serious good times. |

If you get a Korean resident of Incheon to buy your ticket, you will get an 80% discount this year. So getting there and back will cost you less than 10,000KRW. However, the "beer-in-hand" rule applies at the time of purchasing.
(I think we can thank Kim Jong-Il for the discount) |

1. Is there tents to rent out or do you need to bring your own if you want to camp? Any info on prices?
2. I'm assuming that if you dont have the Monday off and just want to come Saturday-Sunday that it's still doable (the ferry runs on the Sunday as well??)
3. How much does the ferry cost without any discounts or anything? According to the wikipedia article there are 2 ferries in the morning-- do you know the times?
This sounds like funn!!
Thanks |

1/ There are no tents to rent. You can pick up a tent for 50,000KRW from E-Mart or something or spend about 30,000-40,000/night at a motel on the island.
2/ The ferry runs every day. There are about six sailings per day starting at about 9:00AM and finishing about 5:00PM.
3/ I think the ferry costs about 30,000KRW each way. |

I have a set of disk golf disks. We had a 20-hole course in Incheon. Pretty good fun on a Sunday. Playing on the beach is great. The hole winner chooses the next hole and some of the targets are pretty wild. Of course we play with a beer in hand. (more challenging and sportsmanlike) |

Actually a couple of years back the Korean National Maritime Police pulled up onto the beach in a huge, really cool, hovercraft. They were just shooting the breeze and catching some rays. Some bikini clad white chicks got to go on board. |
