| This whole "responsibility" thing is overrated. Tell you what, you take the mantle of responsibility and I'll just continue to live my free spirit life and do whatever the eff I want. I'm sure you are saying, "Well, what about society"? I could give a rat's behind about society. All society wants to do is use you and milk every taxable dollar out of you. You can have it. |

| Children are needed to make money (as not intuitive as that may seem in the modern developed world), or like Korea and China, children are needed as a retirement plan. |
That's not the primary reason Chinese or Koreans have children. They have it to carry on the family name. You know, the one that has existed for thousands of years, and the entire lineage of which has been recorded for nearly that long. |

If you choose to reject society, don't be upset when society rejects you and don't demand services from said society. |

Imagine a world without our very existence: no more pollution, no more wars, no more racial tension, no obesity, no domestic violence, no littering, no criminality, no more oppression. Just nice, cuddly, animals, would take charge.
I'm sure they'd do a much better job.
I personally empathize more with the posters on this thread that are trying to belittle personal responsibility.
I feel humanity is speedily going downhill in most spheres of life (apart from technology).
Why do some posters feel if a person wants no kids/family they are somehow unworthy of receiving any benefits that society has to offer?
This infers having kids is mandatory. If you drive a car you must pass a test before you can do so. Why does everybody regardless of their intellect/ability to reason, think they are entitled to take responsibility for something as serious as reproduction, without thinking through its implications?
Have they ever carefully examined themselves to see if reproduction would benefit themselves or society?
Like a child, they insist on having kids because they want them. It's those who want kids almost like a puppy, but fail to realize it isn't just for the holidays, it's a life commitment.
Sometimes the children of such parents may be neglected/abused and end up as serial killers, for example.
I don't mean to be a nazi, but there ought to be some form of government policy which encourages those with a positive IQ to reproduce. Or those with no criminal background etc.
It's not like I am telling society to get lost. I'd like to help out just as much as anyone. My point is kindness seems to be in short supply, as a human I like to give and receive, if we just give out positivity and never receive it, why on earth would anybody want to bring more people into the world to live alongside such vile people?
I also try to be objective. I don't attempt to make others feel like they are irresponsible anarchists because they simply state they don't want kids.
My feeling is humanity is failing. When I look at my own life, I genuinely feel I wish I had never been born. I don't want to bring people into such a miserable, dirty world.
All good things must come to an end. I'm not saying we should all stop reproducing in order to destroy humanity. I respect those that put in the effort to have a family.
I'm saying I don't want kids because of the reasons stated above. I honestly wouldn't be a good parent, I'd be awful. On balance, if humanity were to die out, I really don't think it would be a massive tragedy.
In some respects, the planet would be better off being run by wild animals. |
