I've always seen monkey as a sort of default.

Basically, if you don't know what to do and can't figure it out, you either start studying education theories or become a monkey (most people do not think to study education theories because it cuts into their drinking time). Also, if your co-workers don't like what you're doing, then they'll push you to be a monkey.

Whether or not your co-workers are justified in telling you to be a monkey is a question that you should probably be asking yourself.... but I know that I've never been pushed into being one, and when I feel like it's about to happen, I always have a sound reply as to why not.

A regular Elizabeth Gilbert, eh? Well, how many people can you seriously date in one year without calling it dating because you were staying in "spiritual" digs and weren't having sex?

I'm a free spirit making important discoveries about the world and asking the big important questions, like 'yes, that's what they TELL you life is supposed to be about, but what is it REALLY about?'... therefore I don't have to explain myself to you.

I decided at an early age that I wanted to become a teacher. I have been teaching for a very long time. Teaching is my career. I wouldn't consider myself lazy. I put a lot of hard work into my career.

Sorry, but that's the extent of your ambition? To teach esl in Korea? I think you're well aware that you're in a minority (albeit, a very small one).
Nonetheless, I apologise if I offended you.

Why do you think my ambition is limited in extent? I taught languages in my home country and two other countries before settling down in Korea for a career. For me, teaching is a very fulfilling career. What's wrong with my ambition being in a minority? Many careers could fit into that category. Now my wife and I have owned a successful school for many years. Our work has become our hobby. I enjoy being with and working with my wife throughout the day. We love our students. Our school is much more profitable than if we were teaching in my home country. We have many friends in Korea. My career has afforded me to take on other hobbies and traveling opportunities.

Really, there is no need to feel any sorrow for me. I'm quite happy. Sorry, if you think my ambitions are limited in extent.
All human activity is ultimately pointless my friend, as we all end up in the ground in the end. The best we can hope for, if we're not talented enough to bring joy to millions through our work, or curing cancer, is to provide enough for our families, be content within ourselves and try to make other people's lives enjoyable along the way. At least with teaching you have the opportunity to do the last one in a very immediate way.
Good point. Can't really argue with that I guess.

The more I realize that Edutainment is a complete farse. It's a combination of vindictive Korean teachers that don't want to be teamed up with foreign teachers and foreign teachers lacking in self esteem and willing to make asses in front of students that will later eat them alive.

There now let the flames fly.

It depends on the level--

Elementary school = be fun, silly and constantly stupidly happy.
Middle school = show humor (not silly stuff), be reasonable.
High school = dude, give me a break.
Uni = Just teach them.

As for the days of our life, they contain seventy years, Or if due to strength, eighty years, Yet their pride is but labor and sorrow; For soon it is gone and we fly away.
Psalm 90:10

What is your life? For ye are a vapor, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

AHHHH SILVER!!!
Yes. It was quite interesting to see XAG rocket from 14 bux to 39 bux an ounce over the past 2 years.

Nobody said silver would be that way even when XAU went up to 1200's 2 years ago. (Now Copper price is goin up folks.. there's a general shortage of metal thesedays)

IF ONLY I HAD BOUGHT MORE!! But then I made some dough with XAU so... I'm not too sad.

Remember folks. XAG and XAU are the only REAL money. These are the currencies that will be accepted ANYWHERE in the world when there's a crisis. Real Cash! They always have been and always will be. Don't put your trust in the FIAT currency, no matter what those Wall Street liars tell you.

Even if you are not investing in them, have a few dozen bullions of silver or a few small gold bars. Put them in your "emergency" bag. Radiation? Earthquake? War? You are the only one who can buy his way out of trouble.

so when the world turns to [Mod Edit], how are you gonna use those bars of gold? shave off a few flakes at the local corner store for a loaf of bread?

Naw, you just buy in bulk. Wink
