Which universities in Seoul are really pleasant places to work? Are there any which have really supportive yet hands off administrations? Not talking here about salary etc but just want to know if you work or have worked somewhere where it's a friendly, low stress place!

If there's someone out there who knew of such a place, I highly doubt they would give up said information in a random forum to help out a complete stranger.

Good luck, but remember this, a "good" teacher will still be valued (and treated accordingly) even at "bad" schools and vice versa. A "bad" teacher will be treated like crap anywhere, even at "good" schools.

The rule of thumb I'm hearing is the bigger it is, the worse of a place it is to work for. Many of the best jobs as far as what you're looking for are at Voc-Tech colleges.

The other side of the coin is that lower level universities need to attact students and instructors so put a lot more money into their language programs. Generally, the higher level ones do not pay as well in my experience.

It's about a year old with a few updates on it as they come along.

This might help. You get a job at a university and you like it. I know that seems simplistic but you can ask people on this board and they will say some universities are good and some are bad.

It all depends on what you want. If you meet the needs of the university that you work for then well, you will like the job.

One university that I worked for offered me Tenure. But not the position, benefits, pay etc that I wanted. So each is there own picking I suppose.

Some are ok, some are not.

From looking at the spread sheet posted above, I can see most places have low salaries, high hours and all now have higher income tax. I'm starting to understand why so many people choose to teach privates instead.

You work there, and like it? If so, good to hear a positive report. I'll take back the joke I made in another thread about their name, then.
