Well we will argue about utility, what about gracefulness and intangible factors. I really like the rhythm of eating with chopsticks (at certain foods). I tend to eat more slowly and have smaller mouthfulls.
I like the forks versatility though. Really good for slippery stuff. |

OK this is getting sad.
How am I trivializing this fact? I never said or even implied that random chance or coincidence are involved.

You're grasping at straws here. I think most of the world gets this, you're just in the minority. On second thought, I think even you get this.

| You are the coach of a swim team. It is the end of the year, and you need to pick the winner of the best swimmer trophy. Nick is the best backstroker on your team. Cindy is the best freestyler and breaststroker. She is also the second best backstroker, and she is pretty good at butterfly. She wins a lot of IMs, and has earned over twice as many points for your team as anyone else including Nick. According to your logic, we can't decide who the best swimmer is. It depends on the circumstance. |
Not at all. If I'm coaching, I've already decided who's best in what circumstance during the season and the awards should be simple.
Unless Steelrails is correct and Nick is an Olympic-level backstroker, I'd give the award to Cindy.

Good advice if you take it. No need to be condescending.
Really, this thread saddens me a little. I'm by no means an old-timer on Dave's, but I thought the tone had improved over the last couple of years.
And here I am in one of the more ridiculous threads I've been involved with. Oh well, pat yourself on the back AE, like you said 'A tool for every job.' |

| Grass airfields are better than paved ones for homebuilt and classic aircraft. The airport in my hometown had both a paved and a sod runway and my dad used the sod one whenever he could. |

Cheetos.
Some argue that licking the orange/red stuff off your fingers is part of the whole experience, but the first time I saw my girlfriend doing this I thought, "What have I been doing with my life?" |

Now I have to try this just to see the reactions from other people. |
