Hi guys,
Currently I'm here on my US passport since early february. Legally you cannot be here for more than 90 days on a passport, so I will be leaving for a weekend in taiwan before my 90 days are up. I was wondering if it's a better idea to try to change to a tourist/student visa while I'm or don't worry about it and return on just my passport
I had a discussion today with an administrator at the korean language school I'm taking courses at and she said i can stay on my US passport indefintely as long as i leave the country every 90 days.
I just wanted to confirm if anyone else has done this and how long it can kept up? It doesn't seem to violate any laws but I just want to make sure I'm kosher. |

I believe you are correct. Stay 90 days then leave Korea and come back in for another 90 days |

You should get a D-4 (student visa) if you can. You can renew it indefinitely (as long as you're in school) and each one is good for 6 months.
If you can't get that, at least get a tourist visa. After 90 days, you can renew it (one time).
If you just come in on a visa waiver (no visa at all), you can only stay 90 days and then must LEAVE the country. No extension, no change possible.
So it's cheaper to get a visa than do the visa exemption thing if you're going to stay more than 90 days. You do have to go to the embassy, though. |
